Uh oh: Romney refuses to sign pro-life group’s pledge

Doubling down on RomneyCare, confirming that he believes in climate change, now this. Say this for him: At least he’s not a total pander machine this time around. He just … seems to be in the grip of a political death wish. I can’t even explain this in terms of him wanting to stick by a position he espoused in the past in order to signal to voters that he’s “authentic” and won’t bend on his principles easily. His position, ostensibly, is that he’s pro-life. This makes him look like he’s inching back towards his pro-choice past. Is he in fact pandering to centrists here, with an eye already towards the general election, or what?

Coming soon from Pawlenty, presumably: A nasty tweet ripping Mitt for forever flip-flopping on abortion, followed by a whole lot of stammering at the next debate. Bachmann, however, just might lay him out.

The [Susan B. Anthony List] pledge also states that a candidate will, if elected president, nominate pro-life persons to “relevant Cabinet and Executive Branch positions, in particular the head of National Institutes of Health, the Department of Health & Human Services, and the Department of Justice.” Such a provision, Saul said, would restrict Romney’s ability to choose his Cabinet.

I think people have said it as a joke, but if Romney changed parties and challenged Obama for the Dem nomination, he might have an excellent chance of being the next president. But, as a Republican? That’s not gonna happen.

In my opinion, Romney can take his Socialist RomneyCare, his RINO support of Climate Change, and shove his RINO campaign where the votes don’t shine.

Romney and Obama are competing for the same 40% to 45% of liberal Democrats and liberal RINOs.

“God fearing” is a significant characteristic especially compared to the God complex POTUS we have now - not to mention his enablers in the Congress and media.

Not sure what I’d do if it ended up to be Romney v Obama - why is it so hard to defend innocent life??? This is beyond my capacity to understand. As the wonderful RR said - “I’ve noticed that everyone for abortion has already been born”.

Abortion is the real bottom line - at least for me.

Romney learned well from McCain's success.

You don't have to be a conservative, because most conservatives aren't really paying attention.

I think this proves Palin will run, why else would Willard veer left before the primaries even start?

If conventional wisdom is that Republican candidates should run to the right in the primaries then move to the center once the get the nomination. I will hate to see what happens if Romney gets the nomination, he's so far left already he might end up to the left of Obama before the election.

From the articel:

“Or maybe he thinks tea partiers will line up for him if he’s the nominee no matter what he says or does — which, according to Rasmussen’s new poll, might be true!”

That is the plan. A vote for Trotsky instead of Stalin is not the way forward, comrades.

Romney, hopefully, will self-implode.

Dear God, please let him self-implode ;-)

I think this proves Bachman is trying for vp. Romney thinks he can flirt with the left because he believes Bachman will bring in the conservatives.

What’s he’s learned is, conservative aren’t going to vote for him under any circumstances. Then he did the math and determined that with the other 5-7 candidates knocking each other over for TP support, he can take the nomination with a solid base of moderates, squishes and what-have-yous.

The other thing to consider is, a Romney nomination guarantees a serious third party candidate and, ultimately, an Obama victory. Knowing this, dem voters will flood the open primary states with votes for Romney. Call it payback for Operation: Chaos.

I don’t like the way this is playing out. Especially if Romney does well in Iowa, then wins big in New Hampshire and gets the big dollars flowing his way.

Why doesnt Romney just get the whole thing over with and wear clown shoes and a big red wig? Honestly, he would still get into trouble even if his advisors super-glued his mouth closed!
