There is no better way to proclaim your lack of spiritual and philosophical depth than by, two decades after the fall of communism, disclosing that you're a Marxist. Yet this is precisely what Buddhist spiritual leader the Dalai Lama did during a speech before 150 Chinese students at the University of Minnesota this month. Journalist Tsering Namgyal reports on the story at Religion Dispatches, writing, "'as far as socio-political beliefs are concerned, I consider myself a Marxist.' 'But not a Leninist,' he [the Lama] clarified."
Well, that's a relief. Those Leninists can really kill ya'. Marxists will just murder you.
This isn't the first time the Lama indicated that his soul is as red as the robes he wears. During a lecture in NYC on May 19, the Tibetan leader credited "capitalism" with bringing new freedoms to China but then said, "Still I am a Marxist"; he then explained that Marxism has "moral ethics, whereas capitalism is only how to make profits." That's some deep thinking right there.

There is a subset of so-called "religious leaders" who cloak their Marxism in the guise of some form of religion. Their aim is to distort what the Bible clearly teaches to justify the moral bankruptcy of Marxism/Leninism (Obamaism).
My Christianity (church of Christ, small 'c') is opposed to that philosophy. One of our stalwarts was George S. Benson, who established the National Education Program while at Harding College. The NEP was strongly and resolutely anti-communist and anti-socialist. Do some research on this fine man (Benson) and compare him to the Dalai Lama.
I might be one, too.
Are you prepared to elaborate?
Always was, always will be, a major hustler on the par with the Beatles’ yuru - Maharani, or somethin’ back in the ‘60s. Stupid Hollywood libs following a stupid petty hustler, probably on the payroll of the Chicoms.
Sorry, I posted to you but meant somebody else. Thanks for a personal view of this fraud.
That explains all the mysterious “Free Tibet” stickers on Volvos.
He is also an atheist.
Yeah, those type of folks really annoy me. They often preach a sort of social gospel and try to cherry-pick Bible verses in support of their Marxist beliefs.
There is a difference between Marxism and Leninism. Marxism is the gaining of political power by the proletariat via political agitation, a la Obama. Leninism is the gaining of political power by the proletariat via political murder, up to and including, genocide, a la Lenin, Mao, Kim Il-Sung and Pol Pot. Marxism is compatible with democracy. Leninism is just another form of absolute monarchy. In the case of North Korea, Leninism has progressed to hereditary absolute monarchy.
"Social Justice" Catholics do this like Pelosi and Sibelius.
That would be weird, because the Dalai Lama is acknowledged by Tibetans to be their god-king (much like the Chinese or Japanese emperors were Sons of Heaven).
Yep, and so do Rev. Wright and his type. They are trying to use the Bible just to promote their own liberal agenda. Scum.
What’s the big deal? Marxism only killed >100 million people. Why not give it another chance?
No, not just now. He has said this before.
I has also completely undermined Buddhism with his decision to select his successor before his death. This completely trounces the notion of reincarnation in selecting the next guy. Maybe the Chinese are right when they called him a whack job.
Hey, Dalai...your more like a combination of a confused collectivist/ignorant idiot.
CORRECTION NECESSARY FOR THIS JERK: Hey, Dalai...you're more like a combination of a confused collectivist/ignorant idiot.
Oh, China never brought a lot of suffering?? I guess he doesn't equate a bullet in the back of the head "suffering." Technically, he's right, I suppose. But I think China was pretty good at dishing out suffering. Probably still is.
