Rollins Wants Palin Allies for Bachmann (also wants Sarah as ally!)
CNN ^ | Wednesday, June 8, 2011 | Paul Steinhauser and Gabriella Schwarz

Veteran Republican campaign strategist Ed Rollins, who signed on to steer Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's looming presidential bid, said his recent criticism of Sarah Palin is not part of an electoral strategy.

SNIP

But the former CNN contributor said he needs to adjust from "being a political analyst back to being a strategist."

"I don't think Palin runs and if she does we will deal with it. There obviously is a trend in the media to link them," Rollins told CNN. "In the long run we want Palin and her people as our allies."

In an interview with POLITICO, Rollins said the Bachmann campaign will be "so much more substantive."

"People are going to say, 'I gotta make a choice and go with the intelligent woman who's every bit as attractive,'" Rollins said.

I think that Bachmann’s behavior since Rollins started bashing Palin would not suit Herman Cain one little bit.

A person who develops a successful nationwide business & rises that high thru his own efforts isn’t a person who tolerates a person who cannot be trusted.

Bachmann got supported by Palin during the 2010 campaign.

Turning on Sarah like this less than 1 year later just isn’t acceptable.

Herman Cain doesn’t strike me as a man who would welcome the fox into HIS hen house.

“I love sarah, but Bachmann is more battle ready than Sarah is.”

72 hours ago that may have been true (though I doubt it).

Since then, she has allowed he incompetent crew to blow up her powder magazine. As the smoke clears, you will see the SS Bachmann’s hulk slowly sliding down below the waves.

I don?t see how Palin ?looks bad? in this GOP elite crap at all...she hasn?t said a word about it and likely won?t. Michele has just imploded all by herself thanks to Rollins and her other establishment ?advisors?.

Find myself agreeing with your view.

Bachmann has been seduced by Rollins' appeal to her ambition. Given the strange process of the Iowa caucus system she might fare well there. (God knows Iowans are strange folk re-elected that tired socialist Tom Harkin term after term.) He's delivered on putting her name up front immediately upon his hiring, but what next? Does she truly believe that Tea Party folk will cleave to her after Rollins' attacks?

There is her link with Nikki Haley, another ingrater, that goes back to their mutual endorsement of Willard in the 2008 GOP primaries that might indicate Willard's hand somewhere in the background.

Separating the wheat from the chafe is getting real easy real fast.

First Gingrich, then Romney, and now Bachmann.

Remember what Sarah said, she would get in the race if she couldn’t see someone enter the field with Conservative principles.

This weak field could be well be the reason for her to enter.

Bachmann is hardcore and never hides, goes into the fire and always fights it out.”””

Then someone needs to explain why she has been conspicuously absent from the cameras since Ed Rollins started trashing Palin.

Doesn’t add up.

I have to say, I’ve not been comfortable with the few appearances I’ve seen Bachmann make. She seems a little - I dunno, combination of eager, ambitious and not as smart as Palin. I think her hiring of Rollins shows a sheep-among-wolves naivete and willingness to believe the elites when they tell her who she HAS to have if she wants to win. The ends never justify the means.

It is like a sucker punch to the stomach by someone that you did not even know was your enemy.

Bachmann hired a man she knew was a hit man, and she sent him after Romney’s opponent.

As of this very second, Bachmann has already lost a portion of conservatives forever because they will never take her completely at face value again, every hour, every day that she continues this, that number of permanently disenchanted conservatives against Bachmann grows.

Oh, get it. Yeah, I want her to get in the race. But I believe that she will pick the right time.

Michele can hire anyone she wants. The cream of the crop will be the Primary debates.

I know it's hard, but just try to push all negatives aside. EVERYONE will be going after Sarah, we should be used to that by now.

Why do they go after Sarah? Because she is the one who will restore America to what it should be......unless of course God decides NOT to forgive us for our slumber.

I truly believe the fight between good and evil has already begun here on earth. I put our future into Gods hands. If He decides to give us one more chance, Sarah will be it....our modern day Esther.

If not, He decided not to forgive us for being the “sloth” whom allowed us to get to this point.

Ed, if you want the gov and her supporters to work for your candidate, you have a...mmm...highly inventive way of saying so.

Michele, your campaign-manager hire went to hell in a record hurry. Fix it.

“...the reality is that Sarah is not going to win if he election were tommorow.”

The reality is that the election is not tommorow. In the next 18 mos I expect the Palin campaign to demostrate the way for all future politicians how to run a winning Presidential campaign.

I love sarah, but Bachmann is more battle ready than Sarah is.

You're kidding, right?

You DO know that the Governor of Alaska is the CEO of the state and has powers that other Governors do NOT have, right? Bachmann has only run for office for a small portion of a state and has never had any executive experience.

I did not thinnk Michelle Bachmann could be this stupid. Ed Rollins is a loser. We had our fill of him with Christine Todd Whitman 20 years ago in NJ.

Ed Rollins is a deal killer for me. That is monumental stupidly.

Loved Sarah at first, back in the first campaign.......then turned lukewarm when she resigned as gov.....she is rising in my esteem again. While I had nothing against Michelle and was interested, I am over it now. Her judgment in selecting Rollins stinks, and she took her good old time doing it.

I find it difficult, if not impossible, to believe Rollins agrees with Bachmann on basic principles.

Seems accurate.

I don’t think any other explanation really works.

This reminds of the initial approach made by Fred Thompson in early 2008.

As everyone witnessed he lasted as a candidate about as long as an ice cube at the equator.

Currently Fred is doing "reverse mortgage" commercials on TV.

I think Bachmann having Rollins as her campaign manager will be on the sidelines sooner rather than later.
