Barack Obama is floundering in a sea of bad news, as White House chief economist jumps ship
The Telegraph UK ^ | June 7, 2011 | Nile Gardiner

If last week wasn’t bad enough for President Obama with the release of a series of dire economic reports, this week is looking even worse, kicking off with the resignation on Monday evening of his chief economist Austan Goolsbee. On Friday Goolsbee struggled to explain an unexpected rise in unemployment figures, comically describing them as a “bump in the road”, hardly reassuring news to the nearly 14 million Americans who are now out of work.

After the announcement, Barack Obama paid tribute to his close friend and soon to be former adviser, with a surreal claim that his administration is actually generating “millions of jobs” at a time when the unemployment lines are actually growing.

Over the past several years, he has helped steer our country out of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. And although there is still much work ahead, his insights and counsel have helped lead us toward an economy that is growing and creating millions of jobs.

It’s not hard to see why Goolsbee is leaving the administration to return to the safer confines of the University of Chicago School of Business, where he taught for 14 years. The economic data on the US economy is relentlessly bad, from rising jobless numbers and declining consumer confidence to a hugely depressed housing market. As former Clinton adviser and Democratic strategist James Carville pointed out on Imus in the Morning on the Fox Business Network, the outlook for 2012 is looking increasingly grim for the president if the job figures don’t improve:

“If 54,000 new jobs is the new standard, it’s going to be a very, very rough 2012 for President Obama. But the three-month average was 160,000. If that is the case, then he will do OK. I

Mr. Goolsbee, an amateur comic, was the public face of White House policies more often than predecessors, often using a white board, and is likely to play an informal role from Chicago during the 2012 campaign.

Make that 54,000 burger-flipping jobs Mr. "It's the economy stupid."

54,000 miminum wage, entry-level, dead-end-in-spite-of-the-work-your-way-into-upper-manqagement-hopey-pledge, Burger-flipping jobs by McDonalds to get a fricking 0bamaCare waiver.

Wonder how cry-baby-boy in Florida with a McDonalds job feels about his healthcare now? How come nobody in the media has done a follow up to Julio Odegueda and asked him about McDonalds 0bamaCare waiver.

Do the math Mr. 40 More Years; 54,000 jobs at miminum wage compared to hundreds of thousands of jobs times thousands of dollars for 0bamaCare coverage.

AND...

While you are at it Mr. Mensa Reject...

Please explain how an "average" of 160,000 new jobs is a bigger number than 400,000 "actual" unemployment claims per week.

The stimulus went primarily to the unions to keep the public sector workers on the job. Now, that money has run out and the situation for government workers is in even worse shape. No more ‘stimulus’ dollars are available, cities and states are broke and a massive amount of pink slips are on the way.

i think I figured it out yesterday at the coffee shop. I was told, with the economy wrecked and 20% unemployment, Obama is toast.

Then the GOP gets back in. If they cut spending, there is another left-wing unrising. If they don’t cut spending, the economy stays wrecked and the unemployed do-nothings vote the DEMS back in.

The GOP is the stupid party, so don’t expect them to cut spending ... but expect the DEMS to get back in ... and the economy will still melt away.

The end game: things get so bad, there ain’t no money left in D.C., so the politicians don’t care anymore and they all go home. Leftism is defeated. But the whole country is like Detroit. I think I got it.

Don’t you love the socialists who scream that the government needs to “do something”. Tax the rich, print more money, etc. But when you ask those screaming if they would take three families on their block who are losing their jobs and home to move in with them for the screamer to provide food and clothing for, they say ,oh no, I cant do that. I don’t have enough resources to do that, it would not be fair to ask me to do that. But it is fair to ask another neighbor on their block who is a small businessman to do exactly that. And now we are in the shape we are in. When will we ever learn that there is just not enough of other people’s money?.

Well, like Christina Romer before him, Austen Goolsbee lacks the intelligence to even write a serious budget.

Chicago is no shining example these days, even the “nice” areas roped off for liberal white “nice” people are suffering from honor students and their violent flash mob antics.

Or perhaps liberals think that people don’t think critically about issues and connect dots or any of that. They will just vote for Obama because, well just because.

The libotard leaders KNOW that their fellow rats don’t think critically. How else can one explain that most black people vote democrat despite it being the party of the KKK and supporters of slavery - even well into the 1960’s!
