(Reuters) - Defense Secretary Robert Gates bluntly told Marines on Sunday that they won't be able to opt out of their enlistment just because they disagree with a government decision to end a ban on gays serving openly in the military.
Gates, who is on a tour of Afghanistan to bid farewell to the troops before stepping down at the end of the month, was quizzed by a Marine sergeant about the controversial policy during a question and answer session at a base in southwestern Helmand Province.

Really bad choice of words, brave men are dying almost daily for this great Country!
Expect more flaming!
There is an opt out: You can get out when your enlistment is up. I predict a lot of people will do that, not re-enlist. Meantime, for those unfortunate people fighting a war, who are forced to jump into a foxhole with a couple of perverts... Ever heard of fragging? It’d take about two seconds to decide.
The Marine is upholding his contract with the military. However, the military is not reciprocating it to the Marine. Instead he is being told too bad.
We are going to force the queers down your throat!
Changing the rules in the middle of the game, how nice.
As a former member of the few and the proud, my loyalties are to the old corps, not this new fag outrage!
FUBO!
It won’t be worth a tinkers dam!
And you can bet the J.A.G offices will become full of fags.
The government broke the dam contract!
Why not let the hetro’s exit?
The government broke the dam contract!
Why not let the hetro’s exit?
I don’t assume the death of our servicemen overseas is automatically related to this country at all; the relationships become less clear with every passing day.
If people have an issue with that, so be it.
This LGBT agenda is being pushed in our military, schools, radio, t.v., music, music videos, magazines, and virutally everywhere one turns.
I am sad for the future of Truth, our counrty, our children and our world.
This Marine should have known better than to ask. Should servicemembers have the privilege to annul their contracts simply because of a legal change with which they disagree? Or because of a perceived grievance that the DoD “changed the deal” on them? When you sign the contract, you agree to subject yourself to policies you might not like (even ones not yet in effect); the best you can do is to serve out your contract honorably and vote different candidates into office.
If I ever meet Gates in person I will punch him in the mouth for being a sellout. That is a promise.
Yes, and what serious person is going to want to join the Marines?
The Marines were the last bastion of war fighters. A few good men (real men) could concentrate on combat and not be distracted by gooey-eyed gays and helpless females.
Thank you, Secretary Gates.
Just last year, ADM Mullen said anybody that doesn't agree with the new policy should leave: In the end, if there is either policy direction that someone in uniform disagrees with -- and I've said this before -- the answer -- and you feel so strongly about it -- you know, the answer is not advocacy; it is in fact to vote with your feet."
And why did he not give this advice to the sodomites instead of championing their advocacy?
The “Old Line” non coms are still in charge and they can make life miserable for the DADT’ers especially when it comes to assignments.
Good luck with those re-ups, Secy Gates, Prez Obama and all you Dems in Congress who thought this was such a great idea.
>We are going to force the queers down your throat!<
Okay .... I need to take a shower after that one!
Somehow I don’t see a battle cry changing and being successful ....
“Rump Rangers Lead the Way”
NOT!

It will allow Rangels idea of a draft to gain momentum - he has been pushing it for years.
