West Wing briefing: Why Democrats would like Palin to run
Washington Post ^ | May 27,2011 | Perry Bacon Jr.

Will the White House get its favorite Republican candidate?

Last October, top White House adviser David Plouffe told reporters of the 2012 GOP contest: “These guys are going to be running through hoops to please the far-right folks who are kind of the acolytes of Sarah Palin. Now maybe she’ll be running herself. Something tells me we won’t get that lucky.”

Of course, a Palin candidacy would not guarantee victory for Obama in 2012. In last year’s congressional elections, Democrats constantly spoke of how GOP primary contests were pushing the eventual nominees to the right. But many of those nominees won the general elections and now sit in the U.S. House and Senate. Similarly, it’s not clear that Pawlenty, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney or other candidates would be pushed so far to the right they could not win the election in 2012.

He might be wrong. The former Alaska governor launches a tour of the Northeast this weekend in what could be the first sign of a presidential run.

Palin may not win the Republican nomination even if she enters. But top Democrats believe her candidacy would help them even if she did not win, forcing the other Republicans to take more conservative positions than they would otherwise to compete with Palin among GOP activists.

Jimmy Carter, (along with Chris Matthews and Charles Krauthammers who were on his WH staff) got their wish that Ronald Reagan would run too.

Be careful what you wish for cretin. You might just get it. Palin is not "Zero". "Zero" lies, like Plouffe.

Well you are right, and the 'rats remember 1980 as well. Back then they had no precedent to warn them off their stupid overconfidence, plus they had corroboration from the pusillanimous countryclub republicans who sought to disparage and diminish Reagan because they saw the potential end of all they held dear.

Now, the current ants drones and worker bees in the obama hive have Reagan to look back at, in fear and trembling. Give them credit for having at least learned to look over their shoulder. Hell yes, they fear Palin--a lot.

Democrats, trying to convince themselves and others that, Palin would be the ideal candidate for them to run against. It’s the reverse psychology strategy, which essentially means that, they’re running scared of a Palin candidacy, and would like to head her off at the pass.

It ain’t gonna work, democrats!

They SAID that they would fear running against a RINO and they SAID they believe that running against Sarah would make it easier. When it comes to who the Rats, you can take what they really mean to be exactly opposite of what they say.

I’m surprised people are so certain of 2 things:

1. Palin is the weakest GOP candidate

2. Palin is the strongest GOP candidate

The truth is unknown

All that matters is: can she win?

Even Reagan didn’t achieve escape break away from Carter until the Saturday before the election.

It is way too soon to write off Palin as a sure loser — or fawn over her as the 3rd Coming (dear leader Obama being the 2nd coming)

All that is certain is -with few exceptions such as Washington Lincoln and Reagan - politicians will inevitably disappoint you.

Wouldn't a RINO be a lot better than the Communist Israel hater? At least RINOs will support American values, support capitalism, support Israel...

No. We tried RINO with GHWB, Dole, GWB, McCain, etc., and the RINOs kept the borders open, outsourced the jobs to India and China, and brought in gazillions of less qualified workers to take the remaining jobs of American citizens. And the economy continued its plunge into the abyss, our national debt continued skyward, and the RINO stupidity ushered in a full-blown muslim/communist anti-American regime.

RINOs are just as communist as the Democrats -- it's just a different group of "committee" people who benefit. They all need to go to Hell, right quick.

If the Democrats in the media want her to run so bad, then why do they keep attacking her so viciously before she has announced anything?
