Hey, I like “Party in the U.S.A.,” but I don’t think it’s particularly patriotic of Miley Cyrus to pop off about potential presidential candidates.
The teen pop sensation took to Twitter to ding Rick Santorum in a roundabout way Thursday.
Cyrus isn’t a fan of Urban Outfitters after stories emerged alleging that the store has copied jewelry designs, so she pointed out that the company’s president had contributed to Santorum.
“IF WE ALLOW GAY MARRIAGE NEXT THING U KNOW PEOPLE WILL BE MARRYING GOLD FISH’ – Rick Santorum UO [Urban Outfitters] contributed $13,000 to this mans campaign” tweeted Cyrus, mocking Santorum for some earlier remarks regarding gay marriage.
She also wrote about Urban Outfitters and Santorum: “Not only do they steal from artists but every time you give them money you help finance a campaign against gay equality.”
I doubt former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) worries much about Cyrus’ effect on his potential campaign, even if she does have more than a million Twitter followers. For that matter, I doubt he worries that Keira Knightley recently said she had to google his name. (And he shouldn’t — I know firsthand several high school senior girls who don’t know who Joe Biden is. Not that that’s excusable.)
But I had to pipe up about this because, when I read her comments, I couldn’t help but think, “Right. And every time you give Miley Cyrus money you help finance a girl who clearly doesn’t understand the value of the world she’s been given.” She’s a Southern-bred gal who grew up with an essentially intact family. She should know better than to be less than gracious. And Santorum is a stand-up guy who has always been solidly in support of family values — who suddenly seems pretty cool to me.
Compare Taylor Swift with the Cyrus brat. Swift fills auditorium Cyrus could not fill a High School gym. Swift donates $750k to tornado victims, Cyrus is busy tweeting. My daughter was a big fan but stopped listening to her music 2 years ago. Miley Cyrus needs to grow up. She has no fan base, I see her as a has been by 25 doing County Fairs or VH1 Best Of .

Well, Miss Cyrus, what do you know, already the polygamists are out in force in states that have been ordered by the courts to allow homosexuals to shack up together and call themselves married.
Tell me the legal difference if you can arbitrarily change the definition of marriage from ‘a union one man and one woman’? These courts have made it two people - what’s the difference changing it again and making it two groups? Or adjusting ‘people’ to include ‘sea kittens’?
Right, like always, it’s just piling onto the bandwagon with the ‘superstars’ who have not even put a second of thought into it.

I know with your history, this is a personally upsetting area of debate. But here is where I have to stand.
Has Laura done a pole dance in fishnet on national television? Milly Cyrus has. The role model sold to millions of young girls as “Hannah Montana” graduated what teenage girls today are sagely calling “The Disney Slut Factory.” Not my name for it - teenagers don't pull punches.
There is a big difference in exhibited behavior. Laura has never done that sort of thing.
A few years ago, some shock jock was suspended from radio for calling the Rutgers female basketball team “Nappy Headed Hos” They cried in out rage. Yet just a few months before that the student body of Rutgers was quite correctly lambasted by conservatives for chanting “F@Ck You , Navy.” at a game with some of our nations aspiring militatry cadets. Said basketball players had expressed zero sense that there was anything wrong with that. Where I grew up, doing that with strangers that came to town to play a sports game had a name, and the name fit perfectly with the hairdo criticism.
In America today there is a great movement to normalize every behavior. Homosexuality isn't wrong, we are lectured - it is criticizing it that is wrong. Adultery isn't wrong, it is having these unkind names for those who practice it.
I do not believe that there is any merit in that approach.
If a Hollywood starlet cleans up her life and quits parading herself before the public as a drunken party favor at Hollywood rendezvous for the rich and erotic then I am willing to deem her a lady. Years ago, early porn star Betty Page did just that after being lead to Christ.
But a change of lifestyle is a nonnegotiable requirement for that to happen. If exposure to social stigma based on behavior helps that along, then good.
What sorts of language does God use in the Bible for such behaviors and their practitioners? I suggest you get Hebrew and Greek lexicons and see if it was clean anatomic words, or gutter descriptions.
When I was in my 20s, I was often no better than Miley Cyrus. I did not have the hubris to feign indignation when I was called on it, and I eventually came to God.
It isn't a bad thing that Laura Ingraham was called a slut by Ed Schults. It is a bad thing that Laura Ingraham was called a slut by Ed Schultz UNFAIRLY.
I am not penning this response to mock you or dismiss your point of view. I am submitting it because, though made in haste - what I said was just. It would be hypocritical of me to say that I was entirely better than Miley Cyrus at that age. But it is also hypocritical that calling a political pundit (who engages in intellectual debate over politics on TV and radio) a slut equates to calling a Hollywood starlet (who gyrates on video in prostitute garb, and who is standard fare in gossip papers chronicling entertainment industry debauchery) a tw@t.
One is an uncalled for insult, and the other is a fair appraisal of behavior.
She is just a little hollywood ****... just like lohan and the rest of those no morals, satan worshiping ***** without a brain.
