Not so long ago Hillary Clinton claimed that she was named after Sir Edmund Hillary who with (Nepalese mountaineer Tensing Norkay) was the first to ascend the summit of Mount Everst. Unfortunately, Hillary Clinton was born in 1947 and Sir Hillary’s quest came in 1953. Unless Hillary Clinton’s parents named their precious daughter after an obscure New Zealand beekeeper, Hillary told a colorful white lie.

I’m surprised all the comments attacking this man for seeking this difficult adventure that has its risks. That was once the American way and not only did men risk their own lives but they risked their family’s lives as well in seeking new frontiers.

The new way is to be a couch potato, read Men’s Health, and watch the country sink into the abyss. We are going to need some tough men of all ages in the future who will overcome challenges while putting themselves at great risk.

To climb Everest it costs anywhere from $26,000 to $65,000 dollars. He could have been there longer than he expected, he might not have been able to get a refund, if you planned a trip before you conceived a child, paid $50,000 and thought you would be back before your child was born.

Because you know every detail, when he planned the trip, when his child was conceived, what the predicted due date was and the actual birth date.

I wonder how it feels to be murdered by your own ego.

“I’m surprised all the comments attacking this man for seeking this difficult adventure that has its risks. “

Your priorities are mixed up. He climbed a freaking mountain for his own selfish reasons, which is entirely different than a man who does something heroic for his country or for a higher moral principle.

Bit more details on his death.....

Late Friday evening, a team of eight climbers, eight sherpas and two guides left high camp at 27,230 feet, trying to reach the summit, Mr. Falvey said, relaying an e-mail message he had received from Alex Abramov, the leader of 7 Summits Club, which organized the expedition.

At around 28,870 feet , however, in the early morning, Mr. Delaney began having problems.

He was moved down to 28,700 feet, where he collapsed and was later pronounced dead. Because of the dangerous conditions at that elevation, Mr. Delaney’s body will remain on the peak, Mr. Falvey said.

Since she was born before he made the summit, her parents were psychic....and she's a fibber.

Yes, I did read she said that, though she was born before Hilary reached the summit!

Yup. My hubby was at my side when I was giving birth. This guy was off stroking his ego, and died doing it.

Yes, likely paid ahead of time...a year ahead or so... as most do it seems. To the tune of about 80 grand and upwards!

Also they pretty much didn’t know the wife was pregnant then. Even so she is very much aware of his passion and he had done several other climbs worldwide as well.

The baby girl was born pre-mature...don’t know how far...but ahead of schedual.

I wonder what was going through his delirious, oxygen starved brain just before his icy death? Images of celebrations on the summit, or hallucinations of snuggling up in front of the fire with his wife and baby?
