The long popular lake, home to migrating flamingos, pelicans and gulls, has shrunken by 60 percent and could disappear entirely in just a few years, experts say — drained by drought, misguided irrigation policies, development and the damming of rivers that feed it.

But, let's all blame Global Warming, increase the taxes on gasoline and raise taxes.

You can't fix stupid; and if you drain off water through 'misguided irrigation policies'; then limit the water re-filling the lake through "damming of rivers that feed the lake" - and then have a drought on top of this ..... Golly Habib ... what did you expect to happen?

The same thing is happening to the Aral Sea - north of there on the border of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan - for many of the same reasons.
