The Brits panned Obamas empty speech today to Parliament. The Telegraph reported:
The pictures were better than the words
Perhaps Mr Obama was smothered also by his audience, which remained stubbornly unresponsive. For most of the time the President had nothing to bounce off: no applause and certainly no shouts of praise or blame as might be heard in an American church or at an American political rally.
The presidential text sounded as if it had been worked on so hard and conscientiously by a vast team of helpers that it had lost all savour, and been reduced to a series of orotund banalities, of the sort which can be heard at every tedious Anglo-American conference: Profound challenges stretch out before us the time for our leadership is now Our alliance will remain indispensable.
It did not help to hear Mr Obama assert, after only a minute or two, that fortunately its been smooth sailing between Britain and the United States ever since 1812, when we burned down the White House. Everyone present will have been able to think of occasions when this was not so. Suez did not seem like plain sailing.
Applause did break out when Mr Obama observed that its possible for the sons and daughters of former colonies to sit as Members of Parliament, and for the grandson of a Kenyan who served as a cook in the British Army to stand before you as the President of the United States.
Of course, Obama had to talk about himself Even in front of the British Parliament.
At least, now they know firsthand what weve been suffering through these past three years. Empty words and far left failed policies.

He brought PrompTus with him??
So they didn’t have SEIU or paid college students in the crowd this time? So sad...
0bama brings his own crew. A BYOC kind of guy.
He was elected on “orotund banalities.” Yet the british press thought he was great.
Achilles' Heel.
His narcissism should be exploited. Can the GOP not pick up a book and learn a little about the condition and how to counter it?!?
“Perhaps Mr Obama was smothered also by his audience, which remained stubbornly unresponsive. For most of the time the President had nothing to bounce off: no applause and certainly no shouts of praise or blame as might be heard in an American church or at an American political rally.”
That’s very odd..usually England’s parliment is a pretty rowdy place. They must really detest him...LOL!!
Funny, Bibi had no problems speaking to our Congress - go figure.
I, uh.. er... let me be clear... uh... as I have said on many occasions... that if my speech has "been been reduced to a series of orotund banalities" (whatever that means) the blame can be placed squarely at the feet of TOTUS. I'm not a real statesman but TOTUS makes me play one on TV.
“... and I will focus like a laser on making sure that TOTUS’s transgressions do not go unpunished.”
Not odd at all for the ritish Parliament to react stonefaced to Obama. He is the source of unflinching contempt for Britain. Fools are not graciously suffered by Brits.
"The presidential text sounded as if it had been worked on so hard and conscientiously by a vast team of helpers that it had lost all savour, and been reduced to a series of orotund banalities, of the sort which can be heard at every tedious Anglo-American conference..."
Without doubt that is an adequate description of almost all Obama speeches. The exceptions , of course, are those he tries to ad-lib when he shows what a stuttering, vapid idiot he really is.
Orotund = Pompous, Bombastic
I’m sure the Brits understand “empty suit.” They didn’t need to go to the trouble of writing a whole articles about him when these two simple words would do the trick.
And we don’t want you jerks to think we’ve forgotten that time you burned down our White House. Be a shame if anything happened to this pretty Parliament of yours.
BARF...PUKE...VOMIT...GAG
Who was later jailed for communist insurection and why his grandson hates England.
Pray for America
I have been under the impression that Obama’s frequent pauses while speaking were meant to make him sound thoughtful. It was obvious in this speech that those pauses occur because he can’t read and speak at the same time!!!
Oh yeah, one of the great minds of our time!!!
I bet his grandpa knew enough to shut up when the anthem was played.
