JOPLIN, MO. They had to find Skyular. They wanted the baby boy home.
The 16-month-old disappeared from his mother's arms and into the massive tornado that two days earlier had destroyed so much of this city. His mother and father had been taken to a hospital, severely injured. Skyular, a small boy with light brown hair and big brown eyes, was gone.
His relatives were going to try to find him.
It would be a frantic day of false starts and conflicting reports, of searching hospitals, online message boards and missing person rolls all to try to solve the mystery of one of the estimated 1,500 people still unaccounted for after the tornado.
Skyular's relatives would dig through the debris themselves, terrified of what the rescue teams might have missed and they might find. They did not have a choice.
"The boy's mother is screaming for her baby," Skyular's grandmother Milissa Burns said.

I heard of another family yesterday. Driving home after graduation. Father driving with the son who just graduated in a Hummer, mom and other family in the family car in front. They were headed home. Father said he called his wife and said hurry get the garage door open there’s a tornado. The tornado hit, the son was pulled through the sunroof by the tornado, the fathers are was crushed and I guess he had head wound. He’s in the hospital, they haven’t seen their son since. It just makes me heart sick. There are 1500 people still missing from the area. Hopefully most or all have just left or were out of town at the time. God bless Joplin, MO.
arm, not are.
Not that the parents deserved to have their child ripped from their arms in this terrible storm.....
but Skyular? Really?
My daughters learning disabled. When she was six, she took off out of the house, while a babysitter was there. She loved playing chase. The only problem is, she wouldn’t stop no matter what. It was about 9 at night. I got home, called my hubby, we started a search for her right away. Called police, ect. Worst 2 hours of my life. I thought, she’s gone, there was a busy street about 3 blocks away from us. I figured she’d crossed it, she didn’t know how to cross a street without help. An older couple found her in their trailer park about a mile away. So I can only imagine what this mother is going through. God be with these family, give them peace and rest Lord. In Jesus name, Amen.
1500 people still missing and Obama remains in London. (That’s half the number of Americans killed on 9/11.) But...’Oh, I’ll be with you Sunday.’ This on Monday. If GW had done this, the press would howl for his head on a pike. But no, we’re treated to videos of the boy king continuing his malignant narcissism victory tour.

I was thinking the same thing. Where do people come up with these names these days?
Hard to hold the tears back for such a loss. It makes you speechless, the grief.
The sad reality is that Obama just does not care for the people who live in what is called “flyover country”.
Prayers, prayers, prayers.
It's just so tragic. I was watching last night as more tornado's ripped up our country and I prayed. I can't even imagine what these people are going through. Bad enough you lose everything, but, to continue to get pummeled is just to much. There will be many walking wounded when these storms are done. They will need a lot of comfort from God and prayer. You can replace stuff, but, the emotional and physical wounds can take a lot of time if ever without God's touch.
A baby was found sleeping in an elm tree and apparently is the source of the children's lullaby, "Rockabye Baby in the Tree Top." The baby was adopted as both parents killed.
Let us not give up hope for this infant missing in Joplin...Not yet anyway.
As I recall the children use to go home for lunch and unfortunately a number of kids were in the process of heading back to school then it hit. Killed quite a few of them.
Happened near Elk Point South Dakota also. My late father in law remembers that his neighbor found their 4 month old in a tree after a tornado.
Kid was unharmed, but as he like to say “Mad as hell” he missed feeding time.
Oh my God - 1500 still missing?? I was praying to God that that was just a typo, that only 150 were missing.
And that son-of-a-bitch Obama is busy jetsetting around Europe while so many of his own countrymen are hurting or dead.
Bastard.
The hospital that was hit and one of the churches destroyed, Catholic.
I’m looking for the best place to donate. I’m Catholic and see that the hospital that was hit was Catholic as was one of the Churches.
