US presidential candidate Herman Cain is trying to recover from an embarassing stumble over the question of the Palestinian Right of Return on Sunday.
“Right of Return?,” Cain blankly asked twice in response to being questioned about his position on the vital issue on FOX News Sunday. The second or two of deafening silence that lasted before host Chris Wallace repeated “The Palestinian Right of Return” to the Republican hopeful seemed to last forever.

The only thing you saw was Cain framing. He used the technique of framing to give him some time to give his answer which was:
WALLACE: Question: what would President Cain offer the Palestinians to make peace?
CAIN: Nothing. Because I'm not convinced that the Palestinians are really interested in peace. If the Palestinians come to the table with Israel, with a genuine offer that the two of them can sit down and negotiate, the United States would, in fact, try to facilitate that discussion.
But if we look at history, it has been clear that the Palestinians have always wanted to push Israelis and push Israel for more and more and more. I don't agree with that. I respect Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for taking a stand and saying they cannot give that up.
Secondly, it's Israel's decision, not President Obama's decision to where the borderlines ought to be.
WALLACE: Where do you stand on the right of return?
CAIN: The right of return? The right of return?
WALLACE: The Palestinian right of return.
CAIN: That is something that should be negotiated. That is something that should be negotiated.
WALLACE: Do you think the Palestinian refugees, the people who were kicked out of the land in 1948, should be able or should have any right to return to Israeli land?
CAIN: Yes. But under -- but not under Palestinian conditions. Yes. They should have a right to come back if that is a decision that Israel wants to make.
Back to -- it's up to Israel to determine the things they will accept. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made it real clear in his statement following the statement that President Obama made. They are wiling to make some concessions. They are willing to give on a lot of things. They are willing to be compassionate.
I don't think they have a big problem with people returning. The issue is there are some things that they simply do not want to give in on.
As to your accusation of my revisionist Marxist views, personal attacks aside, nothing could be further from the truth.
I do not reject Christianity and Judaism, but embrace both religions as entities for good. I do reject the idea that the Puritans were pure, for they were anything but, if one was not a Puritan. I credit the later popular revolt against the Puritan theocracy for furthering the recognition of individual rights and freedoms.
The Puritans started Harvard University for one purpose only, to graduate teachers instilled with the Puritan dogma, to be placed in schools by law, and teach same (to the exclusion of all others) in every village and settlement under their control. They also instigated compulsory education for all children, to insure that Puritanism and Puritanism only was taught and learned.
The Puritans were not above slavery, they enslaved captured Indian women and children (Pequot War) to be used as labor for themselves, and sold other Indians into slavery to the hell of the sugar plantations in the Caribbean. (where they quickly died to the last one) If they deemed a White indentured servant to be incorrigible by their mores, said indentured servants were sometimes also sold as slaves to the sugar plantations.
The foregoing is not religious bigotry, but historical facts, all to often ignored or glossed over.
I can certainly understand your frustration as someone who wants Judaism to be fruitful and multiply. Nevertheless there seems to be something seriously wrong with a system in which a criminal husband can extort money from a woman to get a divorce. See the link below regarding the lengths couples in Israel are going to so as to avoid being stuck in a marriage that is not working. Also note, that the rabbis are not doing what they could to prevent such extortion by making sure that the classic Jewish marriage contract is drawn up before marriage.

I grew up in a small Southern town with Jews as my friends and neighbors. I watched as they were targeted by the KKK for thier own personal extinction.
I’ve also known many NE Jews, some who migrated to south Florida.
I’ve never seen a bunch of self-hating Jews as those were in my life.

You need to get over your anti-semitism, and really look at the subject.
“He said don’t send him a 270 page bill.” I wonder if he has ever looked at a Congressional bill. Several years ago I sent away for Linder’s Fair Tax bill which was 65 pages. Bills that are modifications of other bills have pages and pages of “remove this word”, “add that phrase”, “change D.1. to d.(1)”, and the like. And all this is in double space, readable sized type with large margins. Although I never looked at the odious 2,000 page Obamacare bill, I suspect that if it were written as a narrative, it would only be about 150 pages.
Rather than being disturbed that he did not have an answer on the right of return issue, I am rather more concerned that he did not pick up on the statement, “the Palestinian refugees, the people who were kicked out of the land in 1948.” He should certainly have asked for clarification as to who was responsible for “kicking them out”. I suspect that Wallace was referring to Jews. I have known for 40 years that it was Arabs who forced the Palestinians to abandon their homes when the war broke out. Apparently Cain is not aware of this important aspect either.
I have no idea why you think I am anti-semitic. The two Jewish bosses I had were wonderful men. The Jewish kids in school were really nice. My neighbors the Levys, the Silvermans, and the Hannahs were mostly nice and I babysat their children, and took them along with the other little kids and my brothers on nature hikes quite often. I was horrified as an 8 year old in 1946 when I saw the life magazine photos of the ovens and mass graves. I had a therapy client for 4 years whose parents came out of the concentration camps as severaly damaged people, the client nearly died at birth in an Israeli refugee camp, later the family came to American and my client’s life got a lot worse. I had another Jewish client for 4 or 5 years whose sibling had committed suicide. I read Exodus many years ago, and more recently Mila 18 and QB VII with considerable sympathy, as well as other books with a Jewish theme. Jews have been reviled and scapegoated for 2,000 years with pogroms, the inquisition, etc. which is just awful. I think I have looked at the subject plenty.

Right now there are a few former governors who have Executive experience.
One of those former governors has experience working with Energy companies, with extractive industries, and in helping craft cross border agreements which involve energy supplies.
That same former Governor has demonstrated ability to energize supporters at the grass-roots level.
That same Former Governor has been a nominee for national office and has experience dealing with the brutalities of that campaign, including unprecedented media attacks, and not only survived those attacks, but flourished. (Keep in mind the person at the top of the ticket was the 'problem' candidate on that ticket and imho remains a 'problem' for Conservatives).
That same former Governor has a definite track record on issues, an unabashedly Conservative track record.
That same former Governor has little left to be peeled back and waved about by the press--they have left few, if any stones unturned in their quest for dirt on her.
Cain sounds good on many issues. He does not have the experience Palin does, period. He is not as well known.
He is running, so far Sarah is not.
Now I'd vote for just about anyone but Obama, and the GOP knows this. We're right back to the old BS of "Where else are you going to go?"--but frankly, I don't want to be there, and the country can't afford that sort of politics as usual any more.
It is time for 'advancement' based on merit rather than seniority.
If we're going to get the Deficit/debt under control, foster economic recovery, and restore our Constitutional Republic, we need a Conservative, not just the lesser of two evils.

Vendome, thank you for your posts. I am the one who accused gleeaikin of being an anti-semite. Perhaps I was too harsh, and instead will accuse her of being uninformed.
However, the links she’s posted to me have been anti-Israel, and pro-Pali.
You can spout all of the pro-Israel statements you want to me, but you should look at sites other than pro-Pali sites.

Let me address a couple of things as I said I would earlier.
It be done as I go back through our posts.
The “Right of Return” isn’t something I would expect many people to pick up on as a historical anacronism and a cheaply manufactured synthetic copy of an original gripe by the Jews.
The Palestinians are in foreign territory and Cain called it correctly as a good many Christians would on Biblical history, God’s command and moral grounds.
Now, I understand he didn’t fully understand the question but he still got the right. Not essentially or just about but, he got it exactly right.
If Palestinians want to return to Fantasy Island (Palestine) they are going to do so in a modern reality and the Israelis couldn’t care less.
They will not, however, be permitted to return to the bastardized region of Judea known as Israel, except that Israel gives up certain inches of ground for a negotiated settlement of demarcation of the two states, absolute peace and “Full Recognition of the Jewish State of Israel” with it’s sovereignty fully acknowledged, sacrosanct and at all times a peaceful neighbor.
This same neighbor wishes to help the once homeless Arab develop a fully functioning and democratic society that recognizes the right of the individual and is a partner in military and economic priorities.
Actually, I feel comfortable without going through all our posts that should sufficiently answer our questions of our current positions.

It just a matter of delivering information sometimes that the other party didn’t possess.
