A student who objected to prayer being part of Bastrop High School's 2011 graduation ceremonies enlisted the help of the American Civil Liberties Union. However, another student whose role was to call for a moment of silence during Friday's ceremony led the audience in prayer despite the ACLU objections.

I hope there’s video of this.

IN 2006 a young lady by the name of Brittany gave the valedictory speech at her graduation. Speakers must submit their speech prior to graduation for approval. She was told to rewrite it without the references to Jesus as her savior and inspiration. She agreed, then gave her original speech.

They cut the mike on her. The case gained national attention and Mark Levin wrote about her in his book, Liberty and Tyranny.

There were lawsuits regarding the incidence, but I can’t remember the outcome.

I love that she gave a short and sweet prayer, then invited the crowd to join her in the Lord’s Prayer. That way, had they cut the mike, the prayer was still heard.

Like I said, I hope there is video of this.

There is a similar story about a girl chosen to give the valedictorian address at graduation. She had to submit her address to the higher ups in school to make sure it was politically correct...no mention of God. At the end of her address she sneezed. Everyone in attendance said “God bless you.”
Maybe, just maybe, we can take this country back to where it belongs.

Ya know, if the valedictorian happened to be a Muslim, somehow they’d make arrangements for his or her mention of “Allah.” You just know it.

And if it were a she-muzzie giving the valedictory address, she’d be burka’d up to her eyeballs.

Which is intended of course to say “IN YOUR FACE!” to us infidels. Whoever said all muzzies practice Sharia but won’t admit it was spot on.

I would still like to know why praying isn’t speech or a segment of it.

"The First Amendment prohibition on government endorsement of religion exists to protect the minority from the majority,"

Who, then, protects my property from confiscation by the majority to fund their public, liberal indoctrination prisons for children? They can take my money so that freeloading parents can have someone teach their children that my religion is false? I have to pay twice if I want to give my child an established religious education?

PUBLIC EDUCATION IS A VIOLATION OF THE FIRST AMENDMENT

Just think if the ACLU were flooded with this type of Christian civil disobedience. The ACLU would be broken trying to sue all of the schools and students.

Perhaps that should be the plan. Fight them with their own tactics.

Just wondering, if during an ACLU intiated trial, does the judge make ACLU witnesses’ swear the oath with their hand on the bible?

Laci’s bravery and love of God should be rewarded with and not condemned!

She will be rewarded by a new star in her crown in heaven above anything else!

I am humbled by her bravery and passion!

We should have freedom of religion, not from religion.

What part of "Congress shall pass no law . . ." does the ACLU not understand?

"The First Amendment prohibition on government endorsement of religion exists to protect the minority from the majority," said Marjorie R. Esman, ACLU of Louisiana executive director. "Freedom of religion belongs to everyone, not just those whose views may be more popular than others."

Obviously a *lawyer* who doesn't have a clue what the First Amendment says or means.

So, just who is protecting the majority from the tyranny of the minority? The ACLU are such hypocrites.

And just what are they being *protected* from? They might hear a prayer. Oh, the trauma.....

Those God haters need to get over themselves. Or if they don't want to hear about God, they can move to China, or Cuba, or NK, or any number of atheistic paradises.....

Everyone, Ms Esman? Everyone?

Guess that would include Laci Rae Mattice, wouldn't it, Ms. Esman?

Thank you for your kind support of freedom of religion for everyone!

Sure. Some parent has no right to complain or address curriculum, but some stranger does.

The ACLU is so obviously out to destroy America.
