I feel bad for this dude but I can’t help asking: Why was this guy taking 91 lbs. of tortilla dough on vacation?

And here’s a pro-tip: when the cops start asking you if you have anything illegal and ask you if you don’t mind them taking a little peek, tell them NO. They will bitch, attempt to browbeat you, and tell you that if you’re innocent then you have nothing to hide. Bull, do you want to wind up like this guy? They’ll tell you that if you don’t consent, you’ll wind up sitting on the side of the road for 4 hours while they go get a warrant. FINE! To get a warrant, Deputy Dawg has to have something solid up-front, which he doesn’t, he’s just fishing for a felony arrest and a promotion. No cop is going to sit with you for hours to get a warrant, they’re too damn lazy. They’ll bitch at you, talk to you like your 7 years old, probably cite you for something stupid, and send you on your way with a sneer. No worries, that’s the best way it could’ve went. Don’t ever invite them to tear apart your car while you sit in the cop car and can’t even watch what they’re tearing into.

Since Mr Hernandez did absolutely nothing wrong, I think the County owes him for all of his expenses plus a two days pay for every day he was held. that should cover his lost vacation days.
I cannot understand how anyone would expect an emigrant who speaks Spanish as a first language to be able to understand a Tarheel hillbilly from North Carolina. Accents (regional and foreign) do funny things with the English language.

a mix of cheese, shrimp and tortilla and tamale dough

Oh, man. That'll go to your head quicker than a swishy modiste flying on a blank check.

A deputy approached, and Hernandez thought the officer wanted him to move and drove away with his hazard lights on

OK, so I wasn't there.

But, it sounds to me like the person here needs to learn to speak English a little better.

And, FWIW, the I-85 (and I-40, to a lesser extent) corridors are major drug trafficking highways. Major busts, all of the time. The deputy wasn't making a huge stretch (Latino, on a major drug corridor, appears to flee, carrying a large amount of an unknown substance that tests positive for drugs) ... I think that this particular one needs to be looked at as an opportunity for improvment of procedures, but little more than that.

A portable kit used by deputies changed colors, indicating the mixture was illegal drugs.

I had no idea cops were trained analytical chemists!

Those guys are SOOOO smart.

An enzyme found in cheese triggered false drug test

What kind of cheese was it? Cheese and Chong?

Look for mexicans driving around with huge amounts of cheese in the trunk.

Good grief. If you eat the enzyme does your blood test get screwed up or is it just the field tests that are messed up?

you know like the alcohol mouthwash or halitosis screwing up breathalyzer results?
