U.S. Navy SEALs, like the teams that killed Osama bin Laden, are grateful for nation's show of support but are growing angry with the continued focus on their operation, tactics, and tools, claiming it could jeopardize future raids and their safety.
"My friends in the community tell me they're very glad for the bit of attention they got," said former Pentagon deputy undersecretary Jed Babbin, "but at some point the best way to help them is to stop. You guys in the press have done a good job, but stop for God's sake, stop." [See photos of the reaction to bin Laden's death.]
The latest straw came when CBS revealed that the members of Special Warfare Development Group, formerly SEAL Team Six, wore helmet cams into bin Laden's lair. For many, that was a detail too far and could lead those being targeted by the military to somehow deploy countermeasures.
And Washington Whispers this week reported on two blogs that identified the type of gun the SEALs likely used to kill bin Laden, the HK416 .
"Anything further that comes out," added Babbin, a sponsor of the Special Operations Warfare Foundation, "could damage their operational security, maybe reveal tricks of the trade or even endanger their families."

Ubama is the new Usama.
I don’t think thanking them is what I really want to do!! :)
These morons are pure danger for America and Americans!
Christians In Action. :-)
I recall the very same remarks about not focusing on the SEALS being posted by FReepers shortly after Barry’s speechifying. The SEALS are victims of their own success; being good at what they do (and under Barry’s command as CIC) means they’re perfect for a leech like Barry to exploit.
I dont blame these SEALs from being pissed, I know Id be.
Especially when cowardly jihadists will likely go after your family.
Yefragetuwrnotobammy. He's the only one (along with the First Wookie) who gets those kind of vacations.
He's EARNED them.
Cheers!
Thank you. I was moving up and into a spec ops team at Bragg in the early 80's, then off the the places where nasty bad things happen. I tend to remember the 80's from sometimes week old newspapers, scuttlebutt or maybe baseball scores on a radio. I haven't checked "google' but I thought once Marcinko had his court troubles Team six disbanded but then again that was scuttlebutt and i was army not navy.
BTW he was on Ollie North's Fox's Spec ops special today. I think Marcinko uses that same goop Osama uses used to keep his hair black but I'll NEVER say it within 3,000 miles of the guy H-h-he doesn't read free rep-p-p-public does he?
It was Red Cell that was disbanded. They used to probe for holes at bases.
He documents some of it in Rogue Warrior. Almost makes me want to read it a third time.
Yep, Obama always hates his successful imaginary full white brother.
There where also allied POW who where shipped off to the USSR after WWII. According to one defector Maj. Gen. Jan Senja (Checklosovakia) who oversaw POW from Korea and Vietnam before being shipped over to the USSR, commented that they where experimented on at nuke blast zones(ground zero, 1 mile out, etc) to test the effects on the body (the Russians showed them film where they did this) and use of truth serum drugs to see what worked where some of that occurred under his watch.
Or a well-trained agent of the CPUSA.
Well one day I'm walking by generators, all kinds of very ummm select areas and sure enough SEAL's were there; they had stuck a Save the Whales' sticker at every primary area in the facility thus rendering the security inactive and the nuke blown to bits!
Took all of 30 minutes to figure how they did it; for now THAT hole is plugged and the nuke facility has better security but some loafers were fired.
There are six or so new books (in the last two weeks) on Amazon about the SEALS...doesn’t sound like they’re getting the “Just Stop” message out very well?
