mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm double double.....
The distribution of Coors beer spread across the US pretty slowly. In the 1970s, Texas and New Orleans were about as far east as it had made it. So further east, having some Coors was a rare treat and made many other beer drinkers envious and covetous.
Having Coors might not seem so unique now, but in those days the main beers were the old styles from Pabst, Schlitz, Budweiser, Old Milwaukee, etc.
14 hrs in line for a burger?!
Danielle DeInnocentes waited in line with her father for nearly 14 hours to welcome California-based In-N-Out Burger to Texas. Her first bites of a double-double brought tears to her eyes.
Wow, Ive missed you, she told her burger.
I think she just missed a decent ff burger. But the lines are so
long, I think it is faster to cook a burger yourself.
You could probably buy the ingredients once for about 6 burgers,
and cook one faster than it takes to wait in line.
Decent burgers however, so that’s not too bad.
Gotta admit, as far as fast food big chains go, the
Carls Teriyaki burger ain’t bad at all.
However, ain’t nuttin’ that I know that is as good
as a Tommy’s (rampart and beverly in L.A.) total grease,
fat, and flavor...plus you get the burger in about 10-20 seconds
after you order it.....bring the napkins and the soap after
you’re done...
Ping! They didn’t open first in Garland, TX after all.
I had a friend (John Scalzi) who once wrote a column after he moved away from California, about trying to get an In-N-Out burger shipped to him using dry ice.
C’mon this is a meat mecca the state of Tx. Whats the big deal for an over glorified burger from the west coast.Certainly cant go wrong by expanding to Tx however. Smart business move.
Dateline Frisco, TX : 11:00 PM THURSDAY, 1 day AFTER the big opening, they STILL had a 1.5 hour wait at both the drive thru and the counter.
God Bless Texas. But it might be faster to fly to LA to get your burger.
Animal Style.
Among other reactions:
i never ate in the place but I had employees that got their bumper stickers and modified it to read “In and Out Urge” back in the 70s.
In n out doesn’t fill their stuff with fake flavorings and msg. Their fries are potatoes they slice themselves and fry. They make a great “protein burger,” without the bun.
I get my kids their 700+ calorie milkshakes when they need more calories after practice. They are made with real ice cream.
It’s the best fast food and I hate fast food.
This is as bad as when Krispee Kreme donuts came to Austin. I have yet to stop and buy a single KK doorknob, and we pass by it every morning.
Pretty much the same thing happened when the first Sonic opened in the Naperville/Aurora, IL area a few years ago. Apparently the first store to open had an EIGHT HOUR wait that first day, and long delays for quite awhile after.
OK that’s just creepy. Made creepier by the fact that they just aren’t that good.
I've seen plenty of food purveyors come from Cali and do poorly in Texas.
Besides we have so many good burger places in and around Austin, it's hard to choose.
The other day someone on FR was kind enough to give me directions to an In ‘N Out Burger off of I35 on the north side of Dallas. I can’t find the post again. Can anyone direct me? We will be going north on I35 on Thursday and I’d like to stop and give it a try. thanks.
