The Reluctant Assassination of Osama
Jewish World Review ^ | 5/11/2011 | Roger L. Simon

The New York Times, quoting administration sources, says the president was in control and fully committed to the Osama bin Laden assassination. I am more skeptical.

Did Barack Obama really want to assassinate Osama bin Laden? He probably did at some point, because he gave the ultimate order, or allowed it to happen. But I suspect the president was deeply ambivalent.

It's not just his postmodern worldview that suggests this reluctance. It is the discombobulated aftermath of the killing, the weirdly botched reportage featuring such events as Cabinet members in the situation room supposedly watching a (we learned) nonexistent streaming video of the action and the statement that bin Laden — under surveillance for months from a CIA safe house — was living in a posh million dollar mansion.

That was dialed down within a day or two to $250,000 and then revealed, in videos, to be close to a slum. In fact, OBL's squalid living conditions made the hated Guantanamo seem like the Four Seasons. If the SEALs had taken him alive, it would have been an upgrade.

Of course, Obama did not want to assasinate a fellow muslim. And we all know who gave the actual order . But it is still fun to read!

Linky no worky — try this one:

Beware, though, Ulsterman’s “White House Insider” may be more fiction than fact. However it’s a sad commentary that no matter the truth this administration’s veracity is always in question because of its misrepresentations, exaggerations, and outright lies, and because of Obama’s well known indecisiveness.

The death of Osama was a grievous political error, no doubt required by Obama for his support in the raid. The killing elevates a thug sitting in a cell to a martyr. As an incommunicado prisoner he would have been a constant source of valuable intel to bring down the terror network. As a martyr he inspires ever greater acts of vengeance. The important question that has yet to be raised bears on Obama’s protection of the terror network by martyring its faded hero.

Bush wouldn't have gotten away with such a blatant lie. Bush wasn't a blatant liar anyway.

Everything this liar does just makes me want to puke.

All knowing wise one, would it be preferable for US to have to pay for his prayer rug, a Kor-ran (which if we mistreat, we get drilled by the muslim street the MSM) soap and shower, toilet paper and three squares a day? Not to mention human rights groups constantly prying around to ensure his human rights are not violated. Let them have their filthy little martyr... I’m glad the bastard’s dead.

You're welcome! I encourage readers at the link to read the comments there and at the link to Ulsterman. There are a wide variety of them including that this is the work of a writer with a very active imagination. However, though there are no comments to prove or disprove the article, there are some that say it is 50% or 80% true. The one thing that makes it seem credible is the photo of Obama in a windbreaker crouched on a chair in the corner in looking concerned and confused. He is by far the most unauthoritative looking figure there and appears as an observer only and not a leader.

Bush wouldn't have gotten away with such a blatant lie.

Imagine if Bush has killed un-armed BinLaden. The screams from the left would still be echoing from every rooftop.

Those minor expenses and inconveniences would pale beside the broken spirit of Osama, sharing his wealth of knowledge about terrorism.
I have no doubt but that Obama insisted upon Osama’s death once he was presented with the fait accompli of capture.
I take no particular joy in his death. I would prefer an all out war against terrorism rhat than the pussy footing emanating from our WH.
