60 Minutes aired the interview Steve Kroft conducted with President Obama on Wednesday at the White House in which the Commander-in-Chief discussed the successful mission to kill Osama bin Laden.
"I felt very strongly there was a strategic imperative to go after him," the President said even though he admitted they had no photograph and no direct evidence of bin Laden's presence.
The President also said he was "about as active as any project that I've been involved with since I've been President... I was not involved with designing the initial plan but each iteration they'd bring to me, make a full presentation, we would ask questions. We had multiple meetings in the Situation Room where we actually had a model of the compound and we would discuss how this operation might proceed and what various options there were."
Later, Kroft asked for the President's thoughts about the compound in Pakistan.
"I think we were surprised when we learned this compound had been there for five or six years, and it was in an area in which you would think that potentially he would attract some attention. So yes, the answer is that we were surprised that he could maintain a compound for that long without there being a tip off."
Kroft also asked about the concerns Obama before the mission....

Translation - I had Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid take care of it.

These are the classic signs of a very insecure individual, somebody with serious self-doubts who needs to be constantly assured he is worth something. How terribly pathetic.

Obama wasn't directing anything. It is clear from the White House Flickr photographs, that National Security Advisor Tom Donilon was conducting the meeting in the Situation Room. Obama glides in from the golf course, and Donilon moves aside briefly so the WH photographers can portray Obama has a latter day Hector.

IIRC the dead or ali=ve order was never changed on OBL since it was issed in 2001 so the only thing he had to give ok on was going into Pakistan.

From what I was reading in the paper today, it sure sounds like Panetta was the one that was spearheading this effort. Obama mostly just signed off on it, which is his job, of course. Honestly, if he had passed on this, how quickly do you think Hillary and her flying monkeys would have been leaking this info to the media? The strategic imperative was keeping Hillary from getting her revenge.

I was just flipping through the program guide on satellite T.V. and saw that there was a program on MSNBC titled
"The Death of Osama bin Laden"
The description of the program is as follows:
"An in-depth look into the planning and execution of the President's top secret operation that killed terrorist Osama bin Laden."
I sometimes wish that I was politically inactive so that I would be blissfully ignorant of this kind of disgusting, sycophantic propaganda.

Why would this guy feel a need to state something like this? Is he proud that he kinda, actually did his job for the first time? I can't ever imagine an executive at any level saying such things. Almost like pulling someone from the mailroom and making them CEO for the day.
"Hey! I was right there and people asked questions and they had models and stuff."
Gutsy.

I know, it’s like they took the high school kid who got elected “president” at the American Legion’s Boy’s State one year and ran with the joke of letting him think he’s actually the president of the United States. Except that that kid would probably do a better job of it, since chances are he’d be patriotic. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry...
