This poll was conducted before Obama’s announcement of the Bin Laden killing, in case you’re inclined to attribute the huge bounce to goodwill rather than evidence. Needless to say, the key lines are the ones for Republicans and Conservative Republicans; in both groups, the number of Birthers was cut by more than half after the birth certificate revelation. (In fact, it was likely deeper than that. Birtherism had been spiking in the last few weeks since Trump mainstreamed the issue, so it was probably higher than the April 2010 numbers shown here.) I argued a few weeks ago that, contrary to big media’s received wisdom, Birthers aren’t a homogeneous group but rather a mix of hardcore and softcore believers, the latter of which were simply misinformed because they weren’t following the issue closely. These numbers bear that out. Which, for Chris Matthews, means … what? Republicans are racist, but maybe not quite as racist as he thought? What happens to the narrative?
Some people were hassling me in Headlines over this poll because I suggested yesterday in the post about the Bin Laden photos that evidence doesn’t convince skeptics anymore. Fair enough; at the very least, I should have qualified that by specifying that I meant skeptics with an agenda. But give the Birther issue time. I’ll be mighty keen to see if the numbers still look like this in six months — which, theoretically, they should — or if they start to creep back up as discontent with Obama’s policies rises and/or hardcore Birthers regroup and start challenging the long-form birth certificate. Trump had better hope so. Somehow, I don’t see the “trade war with China” platform carrying him to the nomination.

It is the conservative thing to do.
The idea that the President of the United States, the Democratic party, or any of the major players of the left couldn't produce a flawless, literally flawless, birth certificate, invented or otherwise, defies credulity. It is impossible.
Birthers flatter themselves, thinking that Obama and his minions are SO STUPID as to pass this OBVIOUS FORGERY, but have no fear! We ALERT FEW have notice layers and permutations and penumbras and such, delving into this OBVIOUS FAKE with the kind of deft expertise that never having done forensic analysis before provides.
There's no chance at all that Obama's agents took an authentic birth certificate (recently generated or the genuine article) and scanned it in such a way that your average wide eyed birther would notice immediately, and any software savvy expert worth his salt would dismiss as meaningless. No chance at all. Right?
IT'S A TRAP.
The document is real enough for 95% of the country to drop the issue, and fake enough to keep the other 5% around as laughingstocks.
Where do you get your insight into why he posted a forged birth certificate? And why would you defend that?
It is certainly not “false informaton”, because it certainly does not claim to be anything more than what it is, the assignment of parental responsibility, regardless of the biological circumstances.
The problem is that there is “no controlling legal authority.” All we can do is waste our time on this issue - it could be proven he was born in Kenya, beyond anyone’s doubt - still, no official will move to remove him from office - not one. “He was vetted by the people, don’t ya know!”
Oh, that's easy. I'm an Obama plant. I was sent here from the White House to explain the plan.
See, Obama needs birthers right where he had them, in the 'lunatic fringe' category, in order to maintain the aura of victimhood, and to be able to paint ALL his enemies as fact-resistant loons. Birthers became a problem when Trump made the idea mainstream. The *real* certificate was issued to make fools of Obama's opponents, once it started becoming a problem, but certain defects were built into the file to ensure that the issue didn't die altogether.
And why would you defend that?
I'm not defending it. I'm explaining it. Obama told us to 'spike the football' in the endzone. At this point, most people will abandon the birther issue, but so long as we keep 5% or so on the hook, it's enough to tip the advantage towards Obama for 2012.
(While I'm kidding about being an Obama plant, this is the harsh truth. You guys are being manipulated by the left, because they NEED you.)

I’m sure you think you’re very entertaining, but do you have any facts to contribute? Since this thread is about the latest forgery, maybe you could comment on that. Are you fooled by it? If not, why do think it should be accepted? Or are you just here as comic relief?
Just about everything out of 0b0z0’s past stinks or raises more questions.
President Barack Hussein Obama has the full weight and power of the U.S. Federal Government at his disposal. He's had years to prepare. Untold resources. Legions of fanatical followers throughout civilian and government life.
If he chooses to put forward a forgery, it won't be a 'forgery'. It will be a real U.S. government document with information on it that will be beyond the power of anyone to dispute.
Obama controls the printing presses. If he prints money, it's not counterfeit. If he prints a birth certificate, it will be real. If there are any errors, it will be intentional, to arouse and incite suspicion.
You can't win against that, unless you have an original document that refutes his. As it is, he has something, and birthers have nothing. You can't beat something with nothing, but the act of trying keeps the issue alive. Which is exactly what Obama wants.
So why did he put off releasing this latest forgery for so long? It most certainly was not an act of patience or strategy. Releasing another forgery was risky and wouldn't have been done at all except that the issue was beginning to go viral and it forced his hand. It was an act of desperation and has the potential to be his undoing, but only if those such as yourself continue the hard and mostly thankless work.
Please don't let yourself become discouraged. No one has been as good at gathering the info and analyzing the small details as you have. It really does not matter what the blind and weak minded harp on about. You know the truth... this stuff doesn't ad up. But do try to take it easy and stay grounded by whatever ways work best for you. Thank you so much for your continued efforts. So many times it is just when things look the bleakest when victory is close at hand. So much of the time this is only obvious in hindsight.
Of course it might be bluster to re-ignite interest in Corsi's book, but what I've heard will be at least enough to get me to take a look Monday a.m....

Jerome Corsi reportedly has been back in Hawaii this week. Eveyone is harping on a comment from Trump. Perhaps Trump is waiting on some follow up investigation from Corsi before addressing the authenticity of Obama’s latest digital COLB.
