Friction Grows Between Lawmakers and DOJ Over 'Project Gunrunner' Probe

It started with one whistleblower, but now involves dozens of investigators, has created a standoff between the Department of Justice and lawmakers and threatens Mexico’s diplomatic relationship with the United States.
Friction is growing over the probe into the failed “Project Gunrunner” program -- run by the Justice Department's Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms that intended to stop the flow of guns to criminals in Mexico. Whistleblowers claim the bureau actually encouraged the illegal sale of firearms to known criminals, then allowed those guns to be smuggled to Mexico and tracked.

... dates back to allegations two months ago from ATF agent John Dodson, a lone voice and career agent who told Fox News in March that the tactic of letting guns "walk" was approved by his supervisors in the Phoenix ATF office over the objections of several agents.
And: This disclosure enraged many Mexican lawmakers, who want to sue the gun stores and prosecute U.S. officials who approved the plan.

What in the world makes you think this gunwalker problem is going to produce anything different than a pathetic whitewash just like the congressional Waco hearings?

You need a media who will report on it, and a DOJ to investigate.

I no longer hope for justice from the government, however, the more it comes to light the more people can do to push their legistators to do the right thing.
Sounds to me like the front end of the plan was easy, and the back end seemed a bit irresponsibly sketchy at best.
The charges are piling up....complicity in the murder of a federal agent...illegal arms smuggling....violation of international treaties...obstruction of justice...lying under oath...this one goes all the way into the white house, and is far more severe than watergate ever was... the big headed politicians would love to have their name go down in history as the one that took down a president...their own ego’s are why this will work
The scandal started when he first declared he was running for president. This just adds more fuel to the fire.

At the same time, this same DOj was trying to force through illegal gun control policies on the pretext that they were needed to get control of the same smuggling of straw purchased guns to Mexico to fuel the violence there.
So at the same time, the DOJ was both responsible for approving the sale of guns to Mexico which helped fuel the violence and murders and were trying to use the violence and murders these weapons were contributing to justify restrictive gun control measures.
This give the appearance that the the Obama Administration may have been knowingly supplying guns to drug cartels to manufacture a US gun smuggling problem as an excuse to generate support and provide justification for more gun control laws
add to this that the atf actively assisted in getting those guns across the border and (contrary to popular belief, the mexican side of the border is sealed tighter than a drum).....BINGO....all done

And the Republican Party is working hard to keep it that way.
On the other hand, you won't find many who want their names to go down in history as the one that took down the first BLACK president, and even if you do no matter HOW MUCH somebody wants to be the one who took down a president there is NO WAY IN HELL that enough democrats in the senate would go along with a vote to convict/remove even if you had solid documented video of Obama personally walking the guns across the bridge, giving them to the cartel shooters, handing them the ammo and giving them a shooting lesson along with photos of the agents that got killed. It ain't happening.
I so love how the MSM obediently trumpeted the most illegal guns come from the US a year or so ago.
