WASHINGTON (AP) -- When one of Osama bin Laden's most trusted aides picked up the phone last year, he unknowingly led U.S. pursuers to the doorstep of his boss, the world's most wanted terrorist.
That phone call, recounted Sunday by a U.S. official, ended a years-long search for bin Laden's personal courier, the key break in a worldwide manhunt.

I hope they had a warrant to tap that phone or the ACLU will not be pleased.

The Gov and media sure are releasing a buttload of details.
Where’s the body?
I’m waiting for some liberal scumbag to question the head shot and call this an execution.
Hell yeah!!...I dont believe it......
BUT WHOSE NEXT???
(Do I do a *G* or a s/c tag..Im getting old...)
I think it is amazing that we are getting detail like “at exactly 3:55 A US Seal put a bullet into the left side of Osama’s head just above the eye”
But we can’t see the body.
We get detail on how the body was prepared for a muslim burial but they can’t get the story straight on the # of holes in his carcass.
Something stinks.
It's funny, the kind of crap you can get away with saying when you're Administration is liberal.
"We wouldn't kill anyone who tried to surrender, but we knew before we got there that nobody was going to try to surrender before we shot them."
I'm glad they killed him, but the double-standard is comical.
Yeah, kinda Waco comical.
These people cannot shut their mouths how this was done. The NYT ran an article about cell phones and GPS tracking years ago. Next came more classified info details. When will our Gov leaders and GS and FS employees shut up? Heck my friends kept their mouth shut for 30 years about certain ammo and OPS.
Obama looks like someone gave him the toddler chair.
I can't wait to read every single detail and watch every thing on it. As to the politics of it I don't give a s***, the right decisions were made because the SOB... is DEAD... for ever dead... and that is very sweet to me and hopefully some measure of justice for those who died on 9/11.
I must say I am glad, Obama had the guts to make the right decisions in this particular case... He could have very well f*** it up but he didn't.
What a great day for America and for our Military forces!
When I had a clearance, when I walked out of work, the place was forgotten and I went out of my way to know as little as possible. Only know enough to get my job done. Luckily being a Sys Admin, I didn’t have to work with classified information. The only classified info I needed was passwords and they are easily changed and were changed when someone left a contract.
> Heck my friends kept their mouth shut for 30 years about certain ammo and OPS.
He looks like a kid someone brought to an adult party ... out of his element.
I thought the same thing. Looks like the set designer for the Charlie Gibson interview of Sarah Palin worked his magic again. Hillary portrays the drama. 0 provides comic relief.
He looks like the pizza delivery guy who was invited in.
Bump.
I totally agree. However, the thing that has made this so bittersweet for me is that those who are taking credit are the same folks who ranted and raved about rendition, water boarding...saying that it doesn’t work.
Well...gosh danged viola! It worked!
Now...are those who suffered such abuse from those on the other side of the aisle being acknowledged for this victory? NO!
Those who opposed warrantless wiretaps, rendition, water boarding, who called our troops “terrorists”, wanted to close Guantanamo, to read terroristists their rights, etc. are taking credit for this victory.
Like Obama...
Still keeping yer eye out for him, eh? ;o)
people are missing the two key points in this article, which must be hammered home publicly before the libs succeed in changing the subject!!!!!
OBL was found by
1) info gleaned from terrorist captured in IRAQ, and
2) info gleaned from “secret” and presumably aggressive interrogations
“Then in 2004, top al-Qaida operative Hassan Ghul was captured in Iraq. Ghul told the CIA that al-Kuwaiti was a courier, someone crucial to the terrorist organization. In particular, Ghul said, the courier was close to Faraj al-Libi, who replaced Mohammed as al-Qaida’s operational commander. It was a key break in the hunt for in bin Laden’s personal courier.
“Hassan Ghul was the linchpin,” a U.S. official said.”
