WASHINGTON – Knowing there would be disbelievers, the U.S. says it used convincing means to confirm Osama bin Laden's identity during and after the firefight that killed him. But the mystique that surrounded the terrorist chieftain in life is persisting in death.
Was it really him? How do we know? Where are the pictures?
Already, those questions are spreading in Pakistan and surely beyond. In the absence of photos and with his body given up to the sea, many people don't believe bin Laden — the Great Emir to some, the fabled escape artist of the Tora Bora mountains to foe and friend alike — is really dead.

So the upside is that a bunch of Al Quaeda sympathizers wouldnt be mad at us (well, they would because we just shot Osama in the head so they wouldnt be AS mad at us) and the downside is we have left them with a conspiracy theory that we secretly have him and are torturing him or something. Well, we can shut that down by releasing the photos that prove he's dead! Oh wait, no, we won't do that either. But he can't be made a martyr this way! Oh wait, we did admit to shooting him in the head so technically they could still create a martyr cult around him.
This isn't helpful, why do it this way?

As a vet who retired at Hurlburt Field, Fl,( Google-it), I believe you'd have to be a very special kind of stupid to suggest that US Special Operations forces would be complicit in a global fraud of this magnitude. Accept and celebrate the truth, our special forces are just that damn good!

I see that they didn’t dare do such a thing to OBL’s body. Made sure that criminal’s body was washed, wrapped in a clean sheet, and buried in the Arabian sea per Islamic custom.
They gave that thug more dignity in death (Big, heroic fire-fight. Respectfully disposed body.) than our government gives us in life.
