According to another one of those White House briefings of reporters designed to suck up all available credit for good news, President Obama's homeland security advisor reveals that it was a really tense time in the air-conditioned White House as unidentified U.S. Navy SEALs closed in on the world's most wanted man after midnight a half a world away.
"Minutes passed like days," says John Brennan, who bravely stood with press secretary Jay Carney before reporters and TV cameras today chronicling his boss' weekend heroics.
The heavily-armed commandos flying in a quartet of darkened Blackhawk and Chinook helicopters more than 100 miles into Pakistan were probably listening to their iPods and discussing the NFL draft.
"The concern was that bin Laden would oppose any type of capture operation," said Obama's Sherlock Holmes. So U.S. troops were prepared "for all contingencies."
In fact, this weekend was such a tense time in the White House that Obama only got in nine holes of golf. But he still managed to deliver his joke script to the White House Correspondents Assn. dinner Saturday evening.

On Friday, before traveling to Alabama to survey storm damage, the president gave the go-ahead for the team to go in. The original plan was for it to go in Saturday, but due to weather, they changed it to Sunday.
Had the operation gone on Saturday as planned, it would have coincided closely with a North Atlantic Treaty Organization strike on a house in Tripoli where Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi, another longtime U.S. foe, was believed to have been visiting. That strike killed Kadafis son.
Saturday evening, the president offered light remarks at the White House correspondents dinner at a hotel in Washington, joking about his birth certificate and Donald Trump, but he had spent much of the day being briefed on the operation. And his national security staff was working furiously back at the White House." [Edit: The "B.C. Roast" was scheduled for the same day the orders were given to bomb Lybia AND OBL].

He did get nine holes in yesterday morning. That takes balls.
Well I for one think Obama is so brave and so macho afterall he killed women-right since it is all Obama
at least that is what I have heard HE gave the order so HE told them to kill women and just think HE killed disabled childen and Ghadafi’s son on Saturday night what a man!!!!
Obama is a Real Killer-he should put this on his new re-election poster
If Bush were still president, the media would be asking if we had a warrant for Bin Laden’s arrest, if it violated international law, if the death could have been avoided, if by killing him did we lose valuable intelligence, etc. And we’d be told that the death was mostly symbolic, that Bin Laden was a man of yesterday, no longer a threat, it was a waste of time and money, etc.
I think he has, for the first time something isn't conveyed as "Bush's fault!"
AMEN !
First time I’ve laughed all day - this was as good as Rush was today.
Heh heh. True.
You know it’s funny...when I was a kid I knew a guy named Richard Oshea ... his family called him Richard. We all called him Rick, of course.
That this is not from the Onion is truly frightening.
Actually it’s refreshing. The whole article is snarky.
The MSM went crazy of course thinking that he should have been pacing the floor in an agony of indecision.
That's not how "The Big Boss Man" rolled
“Fox is already saying a new report says Bin Laden was unarmed
And hopefully he was also on his knees begging the infidels for his life when they mercilessly pulled the trigger with smiles on their infidel faces ;)
If someone had bursted a balloon in the room, every one of these midnight cowboys would have shlt themselves and screamed like stuck pigs. Did any one of them serve in the military ? ..... I doubt it.
The best thing that obama did was to stay out of the way of a military action that was going to happen anyway that had its start with President Bush
OMG-Did Brennan really say this?
