WASHINGTON – Helicopters descended out of darkness on the most important counterterrorism mission in U.S. history. It was an operation so secret, only a select few U.S. officials knew what was about to happen.

The location was a fortified compound in an affluent Pakistani town two hours outside Islamabad. The target was Osama bin Laden.

Isn't it tidy how OBL was killed just when the release of the BC didn't do much to stop Barry from his slide down the polls!

Fox was reporting that he was given the opportunity to surrender but failed to do so (in, one would assume, the 3 seconds between “lay down your weapon” and “tango down”).

Given that Obama MUST know that he has credibility problems, it would have been in his best interests to alert at least one person on the right (and why not former Pres W.?) that something major was going down.

Well I do not know who knew what and when, but there was something really weird going on Saturday night at the Correspondence dinner... Seemed like more of a 'trump' roast than anything else. As of Saturday the 'Donald' was causing the 'one' to squirm like he had diaper rash...

Obama led five meetings of the National Security Council focused solely on whether bin Laden was in that compound and, if so, how to get him, the official said.

What crap, the Kenyan community organizer is too stupid to lead such a meeting. He listened to his betters and uttered three words  -- "go get him"
The only thing Obama worried about is whether such an operation would harm his street cred in the Muslim world

I think as you seem to do is the captain is in charge of the ship so to speak....since he gets the blame when things go wrong, this went right, apparantly, so I believe we look foolish by diminishing the accomplishment. All I know is OBL is apparently dead and the head of a snake was taken off the planet...that is good news. If the asshat wants to wallow in that news, so be it, the Navy earned that for him. Does it shape the political outlook from here...well, if the election we next week, it could guarantee a win for him. We need be thankful it happened 17 months out, the bump he gets will be temporary because nothing changes he long term prospects for the economy, the dollar, inflation, construction, gasoline prices and a host of other matters that everyone sees each and every day. In fact, as he touts this event more, it begins to look like a “let them eat cake” moment. I want him to revel in the spot light. He who dances the night away has sore feet for many days.

Yeah, I have a problem with that too. Didn’t we have pictures of Saddam Hussein (probably spelled wrong) and his sons after they were killed? But the most hated man in America is killed and we have no proof other than the words of the government? I can see why they would want to bury him at sea so there cannot be a shrine to him but it seems like someone would have thought it would be a good idea to document something of film. Who authorized the burial at sea?
It seems some of this was not handled very well - not the part involving our brave service men.
Maybe they did capture him alive and are torturing him now for information. I’m ok with that.

IF that world has more than two brain cells they already know he has no cred, in the street or at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue... he reads whatever script a writer puts in front of his face. He was a community activist and he will always be a community activist, and since the 'evil devil' Bush went back to Texas look at all the activity going on in their sand piles. There was at least NO doubt where President Bush stood... Now the whole region is getting tag teamed by BamBam and Hillry...

It's so obvious that the photo showed a much younger OBL - and I've been searching for the photo they used - I didn't think to reverse it

However, where does this photo purporting to be the dead OBL originate? It hasn't been authenticated by the US, right? And hopefully, they won't be dumb enough to so do - it being so obviously and amateurishly done.

Compare to photos from even 10 years ago - and I'm sure he'd aged considerably since these -

the photo you found, that they used to fake the 'dead' photo, must have been taken at the same time as this one, both before even 9-11.

I’m pretty sure that the dumping of the body into the sea occurred under cloudy skies, no moon, 3 AM, by chopper. To maintain secrecy, the chopper had all its lights turned off, no cameras allowed. The crew was drugged in such a way that they would have no memory of this mission. There were NO embeds.
