Obama Proposes Giving EPA More Power Over Water
Town Hall ^ | 04/28/2011 | Cain Burdeau

The Obama administration proposed new guidelines Wednesday that would boost the government's ability to protect streams, wetlands and other sensitive waterways from pollution.

Business and property rights groups said the policy would stifle economic growth by generating more red tape for builders of homes and shopping centers, but environmentalists defended it as essential step to provide clean drinking water and protect waterfowl habitat.

Administration officials said their goal was to clarify which waters are subject to federal regulation under the 1972 Clean Water Act, a question that two Supreme Court rulings in the past decade have not resolved.

"Today about 117 million Americans _ more than a third of the U.S. population _ get their drinking water in part from sources that lack clear protection from pollution," Environmental Protection Agency chief Lisa Jackson said. "At the same time, businesses and regulators face uncertainty and delay" when seeking development permits.

EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers said the plan would not take effect until after a 60-day public comment period. Even then, it won't have the force of law, although field staffers will refer to the document when considering whether they have jurisdiction over particular waterways. The agencies' next step will be developing a set of binding regulations, Jackson said.

0 never met a bureaucratic power grab he didn't love.

More government, bigger government, more expensive government - that's the Obama way.

“This “wetlands” thing is TOTAL control over property. They are preventing people from doing ANYTHING to their property”

I used to know a gal whose house was on the banks of the Cuyahoga River. Small township. Her kid’s sandbox and swingset were in the side yard. The township re-graded the swale on her side of the street. Due to that re-grading, her side yard filled with runoff every time it rained. She had dirt hauled in to raise the level, and planted new grass. The EPA came down on her like a ton of bricks.

Life is beginning to imitate The Simpsons Movie:

EPA Soldier: I’m afraid we lost them, sir.
Russ Cargill: Damn it! Well, then you find ‘em, and you get ‘em back in the dome! And to make sure nobody else gets out, I want roving death squads around the perimeter 24-7! I want 10,000 tough guys, and I want 10,000 soft guys to make the tough guys look tougher! And here’s how I want them arranged: tough, soft, tough, tough, soft, tough, soft, soft, tough, tough, soft, soft, tough, soft, tough, soft!
[pause]
EPA Soldier: Sir, I’m afraid you’ve gone mad with power.
Russ Cargill: Of course I have! Have you ever tried going mad without power? It’s boring, no one listens to you!

Anyone trying to take my land over some EPA water rule will have to take all my ammo first, in the manner in which I choose.

Once you’ve abliterated the US economy, devalued the US currency, blocked oil production on US soil, then that next most important step is controlling the water supply.

That way you have the whole populous by the nards

Of course they want control of production of energy, but more importantly to human life is the WATER. Those within govt already control where, when, why and how of water acquisition. Without free and unfettered access to water on your private property, how free are you? Answer is, not free at all.

The majority of the population now rely almost completely on the Government for their ability to live or function.

This thing is almost over for us and nobody even notices or cares.

Electoral theft is a specialty of 0’s minions from hell. After he is reelected, along with control of the House and Senate, just one death in the USSC means total control. It is coming, get ready for IT. IT is, just what is feared, totalitarian US govt, mowing down opposition with an army, and an army of bureaucrats backed up by “law abiding” citizens. I am not predicting it, I FEAR THIS DEEPLY.

The First Republic of the United States is just about over.
After the war, we may establish the Second Republic of the United States. Might be better; might be worse.

If you have no money to purchase water, and no access to water without purchase from the govt, you can live only 3-5 days. Although living 2 days without water has been described as living hell.

The problem with that is, after the first, the majority of the population were devoted Christians and had strong moral convictions.

Today, most of the population is mostly just secular and amoral and would have no clue how to find a spiritual conviction.

Yes, it is surreal to watch. The scary part is the dual-pronged support for the advancement of a socialist type of government is fueled by both elite-minded classes of and by working class, lower-wage earning or non-working sheeple.

These ignoramous’s are paving the way for our own demise, in the name of power and subsidy.

On one side of the isle you have some contently dismantling our freedoms to gain power and on the other side you have the blind “huddled masses” going along with their game plan in exchange for a little more perceived comfort.

Having Ponetta as Sec. of Defense, we are in deep sneakers. He has always been anti-military and can hardly wait to get his hands on cutting defense spending.

It’s a great thing that up here the Great Lakes area we have a compact with all the surrounding states and Canada.

The Kenyan is NOT free to redistribute the water here.
