If you dont want it to get even harder for a U.S. citizen to get a passport now required for travel even to Canada or Mexico you only have until Monday to let the State Department know.
The U.S. Department of State is proposing a new Biographical Questionnaire for some passport applicants: The proposed new Form DS-5513 asks for all addresses since birth; lifetime employment history including employers and supervisors names, addresses, and telephone numbers; personal details of all siblings; mothers address one year prior to your birth; any religious ceremony around the time of birth; and a variety of other information. According to the proposed form, failure to provide the information requested may result in
the denial of your U.S. passport application.

I find this extremely concerning. While this may only apply to "some" Americans at first, we all know how that works. In the end, this could effectively turn into a paper Berlin wall.
Every dictatorship has always needed a mechanism to keep people in.
Who doesn’t know the name, address and phone number of their mom’s gynecologist from 10-20-30-40-50-60-70-80 years ago?
Mother’s residence one year before my birth

Dates of her neonatal care appointments damn near 50 years ago.
I am glad that Glenn Beck got a ho;d of this because when I first read this earlier today, my bones shivered right down to my ‘38 ancestors!

Gotta go President (future) Palin is on Greta!
Of course, if you’re an illegal seeking welfare benefits - just put your “x” on the line and we’ll be happy to serve you.
Obastard’s revenge.
It would make it virtually impossible for most people to get a passport.
And every orphaned or adopted person knows this? I don’t fit either category and I sure as hell don’t know any of this and my mother is no longer in the picture. I guess I no longer have the option to visit other countries.
All the questions Obama won’t answer
Another problem I would have is the fact that my birth wasn’t recorded at the time of my birth. The doc didn’t file my birth certificate till 3 years after I was born.
It’s to keep Obama from getting a passport.
No way can he answer all those questions.
I thought US passports didn't list religion. Are they changing that policy?
I’m not sure if they are going to list religion on the passport, but they certainly will collect that information - and that will be available to the bureaucrat who ultimately decides to give you a passport or not...
...and without a passport you are as much a prisoner in our modern world as you would have been in East Berlin 50 years ago.
Who’s going to run the background check? And with what money?
Zipcodes long before zip codes existed.
I have read the article in its entirety, researched the subject extensively on the Internet and still can’t find an adequate need for all this information just to get a passport. All I needed for my original passport was to produce an original birth certificate or a certified copy issued by my home state.
Perhaps no one will run the background check, mylife. Perhaps you’ll simply be denied a passport...
