A cool trailer made by FreedomWorks, connecting it to today with Obama and the usual suspects.
The movie opened with 299 theaters; now it's at 465.
Go see it, take your family!
I saw it over the weekend. It was good; certainly not as bad as liberal reviews are giving it.
The actual statements in the movie bear a chilling resemblance to the discourse coming from the Empty Suit, RATS in Congress, and MSM.
Whether the movie stinks or not, go and see it to support the movement.
Liberals see their beliefs on display as the “bad guy”,
and they don’t like it because the main reason to BE
a liberal is to justify your belief that you’re a good person.
Starve the Beast, go Galt! (Except for paying to see this movie! Saw it last week and it is chilling to see the parallels to our government and unions today.)
I saw the movie this weekend. It was very well done from the acting to the screenplay to the filming to the casting.
Many not to subtle references to today’s current events including gas, over-regulation, leftist propaganda, etc.
Definitely worth seeing. The screenplay kept to the intent of the novel. Some details have been changed to reflect the current time, but overall, the message was very clear.
I saw it on the second night of release and liked it immensely. There is only so much that can be crammed into a screenplay and keep an acceptable running time.
People applauded (including me) at the end.
JUST came to my town so I’ll go as soon as possible.
Just found out this morning that it’s playing in Huntington Beach. I’ll have to go check it out.
Gotta go soon. It’s tanking.
I was disappointed to see this weekend’s box office receipts down from the opening weekend. I saw it last weekend and really enjoyed it.
Add to that the crony capitalism on display. James Taggart could be Jeffrey Immelt.
Crony capitalism is NOT capitalism.
Does anyone know the background music in the Freedomworks trailer? Liked the trailer...loved the music!
I saw it last weekend too and thought it was great.
I really want to see Part 2, but think it will be a long time before it is released.
I could not find anything on imdb.com about Part 2.
I didn't like this movie a lot, but that was mostly due to "presentation." But once I got beyond the decor (yah, I've lived most of my life on the Left coast), the ugly Rearden office, and my belief that the main actors didn't quite fit the bill (I will admit, I am biased by Gregory Peck[?] in 'The Fountainhead'), I thought it overall pretty good, and really hope to see parts 2 and 3!
Not up to the book, but they did a fairly good job of compressing a tremendous amount of material into something under an hour and a half.
I admit to liking trains, and really really wish we could have trains like that in the U.S., but they'd have to pay for themselves and the economics just isn't there. (Even in Europe I don't ride the fast trains; airplanes and slower trains usually get me where I need to go in a reasonable amount of time with less impact on personal or corporate budget. Sorry, Willie Green!)
Odd that we have had 5 or so theaters in the Seattle area showing this, two in left-wing Seattle and one in liberal Bellevue.
But in any event, as one who's read a bit of Ayn Rand and disagrees with her on things, I'm glad I saw this.
Consider that the second weekend was, for some of us, Easter Weekend (aka Triduum: Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Even and the Sunday of the Resurrection!) and a number of folks were traveling. No surprise if movie receipts in general were down.
Fox & Friends talked it up this morning, so that should be good for another $500K at the gate.
Hopefully! I’d like to see Parts 2 and 3...
