The Westboro Baptist Church once again makes the headlines. This time however, the good news is that they were foiled in their attempts to disrupt another servicemans funeral. Mississippi gives the Westboro the kind of welcome that we would all like to give.
Since we have reported on the Westboro Baptist Church a few times here, it is fitting that we update you on the latest.
Last Saturday, USMC Staff Sgt. Jason Rogers was laid to rest in Brandon, Mississippi. He was killed in action in Afghanistan on April 7th. Many of the towns residents paid homage along the route of the fallen hero as his body was transported home.
Most notably absent were the Westboro protestors who planned a large demonstration at Sgt. Rogers funeral. According to an Ole Miss message board, a tidbit of info ..
A couple of days before, one of them (Westboro protestors) ran his mouth at a Brandon gas station and got his arse waxed. Police were called and the beaten man could not give much of a description of who beat him. When they canvassed the station and spoke to the large crowd that had gathered around, no one seemed to remember anything about what had happened.
Rankin County handled this thing perfectly. There were many things that were put into place that most will never know about and at great expense to the county.
Most of the morons never made it out of their hotel parking lot. It seems that certain Rankin county pickup trucks were parked directly behind any car that had Kansas plates in the hotel parking lot and the drivers mysteriously disappeared until after the funeral was over. Police were called but their wrecker service was running behind and it was going to be a few hours before they could tow the trucks so the Kansas plated cars could get out.
A few made it to the funeral but were ushered away to be questioned about a crime they might have possibly been involved in. Turns out, after a few hours of questioning, that they were not involved and they were allowed to go on about their business.
I’m basically immune to poison ivy and poison oak. A result of constant contact playing in the woods behind our house growing up.
Wonder if I could run some on my hands, show up pretending to be a leftscum fellow traveler, and shake a BUNCH of hands? LOL.
Probably illegal, so I won’t. But it’s a fun idea...
I wonder how the Westboro church gets around Jesus statement ‘blessed are they who mourn’ and how they are not declared a fraudulent church and not eligible to be getting a tax break as such.
“A result of constant contact playing in the woods behind our house growing up.”
Eggs Ackley the opposite for me! I used to be able to roll in it as a kid. Then, in my teens, working as an apprentice carpenter, the guys clearing lots burned a bunch of it. Almost ended up in the hospital!
The poison ivy worked well on my signs! Neighbor’s kid got it big time! And,,,, as a 14 year old,,,, I’d bet he didn’t just get it on his hands,,,, if ya know what I mean! 8^D
Also see the thread: Is Fred Phelps a Democrat? (Yes - supported Al Gore).
LOL re the kid.
BTW, constant exposure can result in immunity (me) or hypersensitivity (several buddies of mine and apparently you). Got one buddy who had to go to the hospital last time he was exposed to a little poison ivy. Not fun...
“Not fun...”
Definitely not! Last time I got it was during Primitive weapon/Black powder season in January, in Ohio. I didn’t think the oils would be active in the near zero degree environment. WRONG!
If somebody ever does shoot these steaming pantloads I hope I'm on the jury. They'll be home for supper and it will still be warm.
Fred Phelps has run for several offices, including Governor, as a registered Democrat. And he still is.
You’ve gotta read this. :-)
XCELLENT! I have a whole strip of poison ivy along the roadside. Finally, a good use for it!
Like - who's gonna know? They won't break out for hours
” I have a whole strip of poison ivy along the roadside. Finally, a good use for it!”
Yup! Just buy some cheap, disposable rubber/latex gloves, and have some fun!
“Boy, you a long way from Kansas. We don’t take well to outside folk stirrin’ up trouble down here ”
Thanks for the link, this will come in handy next time I need to talk to one of my democrat relatives/friends ;)
EXCELLENT!!!
My practical jokesterism went into high gear during the last presidential election!
Make them pay! In unpleasant ways!
Nice!
