The next time you go to the vending machine for a bottle of water (costing 6 cents an ounce) or, instead, sip from the drinking fountain (free), you will be taking part in another debate that touches on the fate of humankind.
Because the next time you grab a bottle from a case in the fridge (costing a penny an ounce) or fill a glass from the tap (a penny for 5 gallons) you will be choosing between dollars and cents, essential hydration and environmental waste, and personal health and public health.
Let your wallet be your first guide, opponents of bottled water say.
"The bottled-water industry has really built a market on casting doubt on the quality of tap water," said Kristin Urquiza, director of Think Outside the Bottle, a campaign devised by Corporate Accountability International, a Boston-based group. "But more and more people are saying, 'Wait a minute, bottled water is costing thousands of times more than tap water.' "

The Left doesn't actually know which of these choices is correct (their opinion changes every other day) but they can say with assurance that YOU are doing it wrong.
Tap Water if regulated by the USDA Bottled Water is regulated by the FDA, who do you trust more?
Get a reverse osmosis system for home, that’s what we have. We have a little spicket at the kitchen sync and that’s the only water we drink.
Surely the reputation of a source has as much to do with the matter as what bureaucracy oversees it.
For whatever reason, that city comes in top three in international municipal water quality competitions. Weird.
Well water!
; )
Fluoride is nasty stuff. I worked at a water treatment plant. Also, they add ammonia to the water because it gives the Chlorine a longer lifespan. That’s only a few of other chems they add.
Bottled water or tap? That depends... What type of beer are you trying to make?
We use well water. We have a deep well and larger, 2500 gallon, storage tank. We have iron in the water but it doesn’t hurt a thing.
I only drink my well water, which is tested and is soft too! Only exception is filtered water at work.
Tap water is just fine. I love the smell of a little arsenic in my water.
Anyway, we don’t really know what’s in that bottled water but if you want to buy it, it’s a free country... at least for now.
Oh I dunno drinking out of a pipe that is miles long without any idea of what else is in it adds a bit of intrigue. Never mind that all municipal systems have leaks which allows water out and other stuff in.
Then there was the town water dept that screwed up and hooked a new sewage line to the water line. People couldn’t figure out what all the white stringy stuff was in their coffee pot filters, not to mention the brown grainy stuff.
This is another situation where the free market is best positioned to ‘find’ the balance. When we go somewhere with the family, we toss bottled water in a cooler. It’s convenient and we save money over the cost of individually purchased drinks. We’ve also seen that over the years, sales of sodas at school and sporting events have dropped off dramatically, with sales of water replacing them. It’s much healthier and doesn’t leave sticky messes if someone spills a drink in the bleachers. Bottled water is a terrific addition to the drink market. For those nannies who think they need to control our every waking moment, I say go away and let each of us decide for ourselves.
Ditto: after nine, years of buying water, lifting those bottles I installed a reverse osmosis system, a year ago.
plastic destroys the balance in your hormones.
we use a berkey water system.
Glacial water from before the atomic age is probably the safest bet. Most tap water will kill a goldfish. That can’t be entirely safe for human consumption. There is nothing in this world that doesn’t cause envy in leftists. It’s not enough that they refuse to pay for bottled water, they must ban you from bottled water also. It’s no fair!
Depends on the city. My town that sits on the shores of Lake Superior, and ultra filters its water. There is no way on God’s blue Earth it makes sense for people here to buy water bottled in St. Louis.
Which doesn’t mean I’d do more then ridicule people who do buy it. Their (idiotic) choice.
