Madison — Speaking to a tea party rally ringed by protesters outside the state Capitol, Sarah Palin defended Gov. Scott Walker's stance against public employee unions and then took aim at both the national Republican Party and President Barack Obama.
The former Alaska governor and Republican vice presidential nominee addressed a crowd of thousands that was whipped by sleet and near-freezing temperatures nearly one month into spring.

Hey liberals, I know Palin annoys you. Too bad. The bottom line remains that we don’t have the money to pay for the nanny state anymore. Even more true is the fact that we never did have the money....which is why the federal and state budgets are going broke right now.
We’ve been headed toward this day of reckoning since the late 70’s....but, any and all attempts to bring the spending trajectories in line with income have been demagogued by the left as ‘throwing grandma into the snow.’ While this was always good and effective politics for the left, it was never good leadership!!!
So, here we are: Medicare, medicaid, social security, and state pensions and benefits are finally being looked at by serious people who can operate a calculator. It’s a big mess that would have been easier to resolve in the 90’s, 80’s or even the 70’s but, your so called lefty leaders prevented it from happening.
The truth is, you lefties should be thankful the demagoguery isn’t working anymore. We might, and I mean might, have a chance to save the economy before it gets driven over the cliff. Defined benefit plans are going to be replaced by defined contribution plans. Medicaid will be sent to the states. Medicare will turn into a government subsidized insurance program and price controlled by market forces. Social Security will be fixed too.
And, by the way, no one is thrilled about this. We’re simply doing the math, swallowing hard, and taking our medicine...so to speak. It’s called being a mature adult. You should try it.
You don’t have to vote for Trump to like him. the more voices for the cause the better, don’t be threatened by anybody.

I’m not a Palin supporter by any means, but I will say this - I have respect for Sarah even though I hope she does not run for President.
I have absolutely no respect for Trump.
That speech was Sarah Palin walking right up to Barack Obama, punching him in the nose and saying “What are you going to do about it”.
Quibble. The mid-sixties would be a better starting point. Specifically, 1964, when LBJ produced his "War on Poverty" and funded it by consolidating the Social Security trust fund with the government's operating budget.

When Sarah P. announces a run the landscape will shift tectonically. The resulting tsunami will overwhelm all the pundits, handwringers, handsitters and naysayers.
The fact is, the attraction to The Donald is that people are happy to see someone, anyone, get into the face of the Bamster and call him and his gang of thugs out to the street. The only ones that show and gumpshun at all are the women, Michelle, Sarah...it’s good to finally see a man, any man, say what needs to be said.

I got to shake Sarah Palin’s hand today, and have a chat with Vicki Mckenna, Breitbart, and the weekend talk show host on 1130 WISN.
Here is my report:
This reporter drove from Lake Forest, IL to Madison hoping to see the place where the historic battle between conservatives and public unions took place some time ago and to watch Gov. Palin in action. In fact, with the Wisconsin Supreme Court elections underway, the battle is still raging on and the wounds (mostly on the liberal side) are still fresh. As a result, I expected to see the participants in their natural habitat.
I had arrived early and found the libtards out in droves and in force. They were pretending to have their own counter-rally and were well prepared and eager for action. All kinds of signs were presented, most of them targeting Gov. Walker and Sarah Palin. Demographically they looked like aging hippies, teachers/educators and students. I was immediately taken aback a bit by some of the signs’ foul language, given the apparent, higher than median, level of their holders’ education.
Both events were supposed to take place at opposite ends of the Capitol building, but the lefties did not seem to pay much attention to their own speakers and congregated mainly around the Tea Party rally. Clearly, their intention was to disrupt, suppress and get the meeting drowned in noise.
It was hard to estimate the numbers, as people who wanted to listen to the speakers had formed a crowd around the podium where lefties surrounded them trying to physically block (in a non-violent way) access to the proceedings. Amazingly, there was no police presence to separate the opposing sides: I remember a Bush Recount rally in Manhattan in 2000 where NYPD was on guard to eliminate any potential confrontation and to keep sides separated. Apparently, Madison police have their own agenda…
There was a middle-aged woman standing right next to me and holding a sign to recall Gov. Walker. In addition, she was continuously yelling two phrases: “Recall Walker” and “Shame!” The second one was turned on whenever a new speaker would mount the podium and start his speech. People around me ignored her, but, finally, someone confronted her and she became markedly quieter. Her soul mates, though, used drums, vuvuzelas (annoying plastic devices used during the soccer World Cup last year), bells and hell knows what else to create tremendous noise. I must admit they were successful in that and the event’s loudspeakers sometimes were not powerful enough to overcome the clamor.
Our side seemed to be comprised of people from all walks of life: I saw a number of families and young people. They behaved well and tried to listen and reacted to the speeches in an enthusiastic way, especially given the cold weather, wind, and wet snow.
Clearly, the main attraction was Gov. Palin’s appearance. She showed up wearing a light silver jacket as if making a statement: if you guys waited here for two hours in this weather, I’m not going to be bothered by the elements!
Her speech was forceful and full of energy and clarity. I will not comment on the content (it’s available everywhere), but must say that I was impressed by her oratory abilities, substance, and delivery being first-class; especially given the weather conditions. She was also very crafty in addressing the protesters/union members directly: she reminded them that Gov. Walker and her family union and teachers’ ties saved their jobs.
A substantial number of people—both Tea Party and protesters—left after the speech, which tells me that indeed, Gov. Palin was the real reason why most of them were there: first those who listened to her, and those who protested against her. I can’t imagine a similar reaction from both sides to any other potential presidential candidate!
So after today’s rally, I’ve made two conclusions: first, paraphrasing the immortal quote from the movie Jaws: we’ll need bigger loudspeakers! Secondly, Gov. Palin is definitely running!
