GOP SELLS OUT IN OBAMA BUDGET DEAL

Breathe deep.

That’s what defeat smells like.

Get used to it.

Boehner and the freshmen sold us out.In the first test of the new speaker, in the first demonstration of what the tea party Republicans are made of, they got nothing.

They caved.

They sold out.

And we got screwed.

Do this math with me. The deficit is $1.4 trillion. They cut $38 billion. That’s less than 3 percent.

And that’s failure.

You write a check for $100 more than you have in your account. The bank tells you it’s rubber. So you rip it up and write a check for $97 more than you have in your account and you call yourself a fiscal conservative.

That’s what we got.

We got blown off.

Deficit spending is the greatest threat to the stability and future of our Republic. We know that in our hearts, and we heard it in campaign speeches.

But we sure as hell didn’t see it in this deal. What we saw in this deal is another generation of empowered Republicans contenting themselves to be Democrat Lite.

The guy who sticks a knife nine and three-quarters inches into your back is not any better than the guy who sticks a knife 10 inches into your back.

And it wasn’t just in the pocket book where the Republicans sold out, it was also in the heart. The party that loves to talk about principles didn’t have any.

In the world of government, money equals priorities. You can’t separate budget from policy. What you decide to fund, and how much you decide to fund it, is money on one end, but people’s lives on the other. If one group’s pet projects get money, and another’s don’t, it makes a lot of difference.

Which is why environmentalists and the pro-abortion people are so happy. They won like crazy.

On the two issues the Republicans said they wouldn’t compromise on – they compromised.

If by “compromised” you mean “surrendered.”

The $300 million federal tax dollars Obama and Harry Reid wanted to go to Planned Parenthood – the money John Boehner said absolutely couldn’t go to Planned Parenthood?

It’s going to Planned Parenthood.

And the horrific global-warming regulations, the ones that strangle the economy and our freedom and ensure America’s prosperity continues to decay and erode, those came through unscathed.

You went to bed promised by the Republicans that they would take care of those.

And they did.

They made them permanent.

In the end, there were no principles. In the end, there was no victory. In the end, there was no change.

Not if you are a conservative. Not if you believed November’s victories meant something. Not if you take the Constitution at face value.

The Republicans went toe to toe and stood eye to eye, and blinked. Obama’s their daddy. Harry Reid gave it to them right in the shorts.

And those of us who believed in them – who empowered them – lost.

Obama announced his re-election campaign on Monday and won it on Friday.

Because if the Republican Party means nothing more than what it showed in this deal, it’s as worthless and dangerous as the Democratic Party. This wasn’t a deal, it was a sell out. Not a fight, but a capitulation.

Full and unconditional surrender.

Except for welfare abortions and school vouchers in the District of Columbia.

Where no one who elected a single member of the House of Representatives lives.

If you think welfare abortions and school vouchers in the District of Columbia are what America cares about, then you also think a 2.7-percent deficit reduction is a big deal.

The greatest disappointment is the fact that freshmen Republicans went along with this. This group of people, who paraded up and down on principle, who waved the Constitution and sweet talked the tea party, followed John Boehner sheeplike down the path of Washington equivocation.

In their first true test of principle, well, they proved no better than the people they replaced.

They were our hope, and most of them kicked us in the teeth.

Monday, they will be on the talk shows reading copy points about their great victory, but we won’t be fooled.

Because we recognize this smell.

It’s the cheap perfume of political whores.

It’s what cowardice smells like.

Heads up. The Weeper of the House is coming up live after the 9 o'clock hour on Foxnews. Will he splain himself and his colleagues? Probably, but not satisfactorily!

Like it or not, the Dems still control the White House and Senate. They are in a position to negotiate. The Republicans got about all they were going to get under the circumstances. Anyone who thought the GOP was going to steamroll to a complete victory was fooling themselves.

Only diff is that Churchhill said that after a major British victory - not after a defeat...

Amen! That is the reality. Pray, work....and keep heading to 2012...

The Founders set up a system of checks and balances. They worked last week as designed. Each side can shut the system down, but can’t DO anything without the cooperation of the other side.

Which means we never get everything we want. As the Founders intended.

If you want a “change everything on a dime” system, you’ll have to switch to a European parliament/cabinet system. Much more efficient.

Yet, there are those here that expected that steamroller. They seem to forget this situation didn't happen overnight, and won't be resolved in one swing, but piece by piece.

You know, I think I can now see the way clearly to an Obama victory in 2012. It all hinges on Trump's ego and the defeatist attitude of conservatives.

Haven't you ever heard that it's the skinny end of the wedge that goes in first?

We have to be aggressive but realistic. This deal was not good, but it was a step in the right direction. IMO, the mistake was upfront....going for too little and allowing the debate to be about a narrow set of social issues, NPR, etc. The GOP needs to be aggressive and continue to play off the mood of the country. Go for more across the board cuts and prevent the narrative the left loves to go to ...sob stories about killing women. They use the same template no matter what the proposal, so go for more in exchange and play it so the majority can clearly get behind us.. Fight their little ideas with big ideas that the majority of Americans are for. There is zero chance we see massive change until we get a different president and Senate, so much of this is just posturing for 2012.

Ryan is our only hope.

You mean the same Paul Ryan who authored and voted for the bill that created the single largest entitlement program since the (not so)Great Society? That Paul Ryan? He's our "only hope"? We're so screwed.......

The Republican House does not control the government. How hard is it for people to understand that?

They simply don’t.

They are only one of the 3 prongs of approving legislation. The 2 other prongs can outvote them bigtime.

I certainly understand people’s impatience....but we need to take a breath and face the reality. We need to be VERY alert to get as much done as possible to reverse the damage...while wisely planning for 2012....when the MAIN work of repair can begin in earnest.

We also need to understand that there ARE those who will attempt to insert division within the conservative ranks by any and all means possible.

Obama is going to make a nationwide speech and put tax increases on the table. This all may yet turn in our favor.

I agree with those that believe that Boehner did a very fine job last week. It was a great preliminary to the main event that will be coming in the future few weeks with the National Debt limit. That will keep the momentum moving in the right direction and even though it may increase the debt limit somewhat it will require another debt limit battle, maybe a few months later on that will provide another opportunity to keep cutting the budgetary spending.
Keep it going.

Funny thing perception is. I managed to stomach snip-it’s from two of the Alphabet Soup channels Sat. morning. The “experts” whom were questioned had The Cry Baby as the big winner.
