General David Petraeus on quran burning:
"Ambassador Sedwill and I have just released a statement on behalf of NATO and ISAF forces in Afganistan. In that statement we condemn the action of an individual in the United States who burned a holy quran. That action was hateful, it was intolerant and it was extremely disrespectful. And again, we condemn it in the strongest manner possible."
I used to be in the Army. My brother is in the Air Force and was in the Pentagon on 9/11/01. On 9/11/10 I observed the anniversary by stuffing a Koran full of bacon and letting my dog have at it.
Certainly it's disrespectful. Some things warrant disrespect.
Dear General Petraeus,
Last week, I ate pork chops for lunch, talked to a single woman who wasn’t my wife, drank a beer and wiped my ass with the wrong hand.
Since we’re now apologizing for doing anything that offends a RELIGION and not a particular PERSON, I thought these, too, might qualify, so please pass along my apologies to the Muzzies.
Thanks.
I don’t often get an occasion to say this, but stuff it General.
Bingo. Patreaus is well beyond his depth here. If he thinks an American exercising the right to free speech by burning a stupid book in any way endangers our troops he should retire, be fired or what ever.
Funny how I never hear the man condemn the killing of innocents—Christian or otherwise.
As a retired US Army officer, Petraeus—and all the US senior military so-caled leadership—embarrasses me.
Petraeus has no authority to condemn expressions of opinion by American civilians.
He needs to do his job and otherwise STFU.
Exactly, FU general P. Just do your job which is kill the enemy and break their stuff.
