The Bellaire, Ohio man, who has not been publicly identified, was a patient at Wheeling Hospital in West Virginia, ABC Affiliate WTRF reported.
On Sunday, the 43-year-old man's two roommates discovered him unconscious. They called authorities.
When firefighters arrived, they discovered that the man's skin was stuck to the chair with urine and feces. Maggots were visible, according to local reports.
"The chair was very filthy, a lot of odor to it. Going in the house, the house was not clean. The living room where the man lived in his chair was very filthy, very deplorable. It's unbelievable that somebody lives in conditions like that" Jim Chase, a code enforcer for the city, told ABC affiliate WKEF said.

Best post on this thread. I'm still laughing.
What? You thought he should be in the chair with someone else’s waste?
or a bigger chair
and trust me, firefighters do have maggot stories
He had a girlfriend? I guess there’s someone for everybody. No matter how much you love someone, I’d think there would be some kind of limit when your boyfriend has 2 years worth of poop in his chair.
...and drinks, but no water. He was dirty, but not thirsty.
Lovely room mates he had.
People suck.
***** “What a waste” *****
Can’t help it ... I laughed when I read that (you are so sick, I must be too)
TT
**** “Lazy Boy?” ****
That’s twice I have laughed at this departed’s expense

***** “He had a girlfriend?” ******
Naw.... she was a “Kinetic Female Enabling Device”

I believe in some states it’s a criminal act to knowingly ignore something where a person’s life is in danger.
It’s like malfeasance of a known legal duty or somesuch.
I believe it.
My old man is a retired firefighter.
LOL.
Dreadful. RIP.
Yeah, what you said.
This is not as uncommon as you would hope. We have cut out a big swatch of mattress around a person who had been laying there so long the skin and fibers had intertwined.
Some of the ones who can still move somewhat, have a 5 gallon slop bucket beside the bed that they hit more or less, most of the time.
Sometimes I wish I was like a lizard, so that when I get back from one of those calls, I could just open my mouth and crawl out of my clothes, skin, and everything.
What I don’t understand is how anyone who might care for them can’t do something to intervene to try to save their lives.
How did the two roommates stand the stench?
