Threats Claim Nuclear Bombs Hidden All Over U.S.
CBS Chicago ^ | March 30, 2011 | Staff

Posted on 03/30/2011 6:22:44 AM PDT by library user

CHICAGO (CBS 2) – The threats came in the mail and to date, there have been 25 letters that warn of nuclear bombs destroying America.

People who got them called the FBI and CBS 2′s Kristyn Hartman learned, the Bureau’s Chicago office is leading the investigation.

FBI Special Agent Andre Zavala said, “Yes, they alarmed a lot of people.”

Attorney Tracy Rizzo was alarmed. A number of days ago, an envelope, with a Chicago postmark and a hand-written address to her private investigations firm, came in the mail.

The letter inside said, “The Al-Qaeda organization has planted 160 nuclear bombs throughout the U.S. in schools, stadiums, churches, stores, financial institutions and government buildings.” It also said, “This is a suicide mission for us.”

The writer, who claims to be Osama Bin Laden, tells the reader the nukes are remotely controlled. “It was clear the writer wanted to scare me,” said Rizzo, “Yes, it frightened me.” Rizzo was one of eight people in the Chicago area to contact the FBI.

Agencies in Oregon, California, Texas and Florida also got the letter with the Chicago postmark.

“There are items in the letter that lead us to believe it is a hoax,” said Zavala. “There are several demands documented that aren’t fully coherent.”

He said much of what’s in the message doesn’t add up, but in a post 9-11 world, the FBI can’t let it go – even if it does appear to be a hoax.

“The FBI investigates every element. We can’t take that chance,” said Zavala.

So, why the threats?

The writer alluded to how families in Afghanistan have to live. The FBI said it will find that writer, and when it does, he could face 5 to 10 years in prison for each letter mailed. Anyone who’s received a similar letter should call the FBI.

Are we past that awkward stage yet?

If Lautenberg & Babs ban on possession of magazines of more than 10 rounds capacity is signed by BHOle, I may be well beyond Miss Wolfe's awkward stage.

I’m trying to imagine Jihadist Johnny just sitting on a nuke until he could get hold of a second one....and then sitting one two nukes until he could get a third....

Would never happen. The instant they get a nuke, they will use it.

I miss it too. They probably cut it because it was too pro-militia. And the Cheyenne president was a bit too much like Obama, minus the skin color.

Could be sent by Ghadaffi-sponsored sleeper cells just to send the FBI off on a goose chase while they plot something more realistic (than “160” RC nukes).

“Hence operation Gunwalker. “

Well, Gunwalker was begun in 2005.

I think the number is credible. They are not referring to traditional nuclear warheads. They are referring to dirty bombs, the way I read it.

Even then I doubt they would wait until they had more than a dozen. When lower Manhattan, central Washington DC and the Chicago loop are radioactive messes, who is going to care that Sioux City is too?

“There are several demands documented that aren’t fully coherent.”

Written by Michael Moore?

Could be any government-run-school graduate.

Most of them are dumbed down pretty well.

I loved that show. I used it to help explain to my brother-in-law the intent of the second amendment (he is from India). Now HIS wife is hooked on it and is watching it with her grandfather, who was a Freedom Fighter against the British.

hoax or ruse, ties up resources, and possibly allows something else to slip past, if something else is going on. imho ... not credible ... as has been stated.

My girlfriend and I JUST discovered this show, on NetFlix. It was amazing. We looked forward to watching a new episode (minus commercials) each night. :)

If the nukes are remotely controlled, then why is it a suicide mission?

It's a good thing these guys are so incompetent. If they came up with a credible threat, saying they had one or two nukes hidden in particular city, I'd be scared.

As it is, it looks like some mental case is going to find himself behind bars for the rest of his life.

Exactly. And coming up with 160 nukes seems impossible. If the letters had said 4 nukes, they might have had more credibility.

Chicago postmarks. Bill Ayers?

Billy the Bomber graduating from tnt to nukes!!! If I recall he said he felt he didn’t do enough back in his fugitive days. Some men crave a motorcyle or a convertible when they hit their mid-life crisis, perhaps for Billy it is seeing a mushroom cloud over the White House or Wall Street.

The highly enriched plutonium or uranium in the trigger breaks down over time. Any weapon build before 1990 is a paperweight now unless new triggers have been put in place. And the trigger is the hardest part of the bomb to build.

Can you source this info? I'm curious to learn more.

Actually, I believe they are required by their religion to give several warnings. After that, and assuming the infidel does not change his ways, they can act with a clear conscience in slaughtering innocent women and children. What a great religion.
