Tax the Super Rich now or face a revolution
Market Watch ^ | March 29, 2011 | Paul B. Farrell

Yes, tax the Super Rich. Tax them now. Before the other 99% rise up, trigger a new American Revolution, a meltdown and the Great Depression 2.

We know the Super Rich don’t care. Not about you. Nor the American public. They can’t see. Can’t hear. Stay trapped in their Forbes-400 bubble. An echo chamber that isolates them. They see the public as faceless workers, customers, taxpayers. See GOP power on the ascent. Reaganomics is back. Unions on the run. Clueless masses are easily manipulated.

Even Obama is secretly working with the GOP, will never touch his Super Rich donors. Yes, the Super-Rich Delusion is that powerful, infecting all America.

Here’s how one savvy insider who knows described this Super-Rich Delusion: “The top 1% live privileged lives, aren’t worried about much. Families vacation at the best resorts. Their big concerns are finding the best Pilates teacher, best masseuse, best surgeons, best private schools. They aren’t concerned with the underlying deterioration of America or the world, except in the abstract, because they aren’t directly affected by it. That’s not to say they aren’t sympathetic, aware, or don’t talk about the issues you bring up. They are largely concerned with protecting and enhancing their socio-economic positions, ensuring their families live well. And nothing you write about will change things.”

Can’t believe it took 13 posts to get to IBTZ.

This guy really chapped my hide.

That’s the list.

Idiots like the author and OP have no idea what numbers are associated with that list and it Shiitloads.

I just got my bill for IRS and I am frickin’ pissed. But it’s got to be paid.

I’ve known some of the ‘super rich’. Quite a few are genuinely nice people and their children are reared to be hard working and treat everyone with courtesy and kindness.

Few of the families who were wealthy in the late 18th and 19th centuries are still wealthy; it is more difficult to continue wealth than most people would imagine.

But there are many who live lives of total hedonism, divorced from regular folks. Some families have been wildly successful in accumulating and increasing wealth during the 20th century and their children have been taught by an amalgam of Progressives and wealth-management consultants whose conflicting advice should boggle the mind but somehow is beyond their ability to recognize. Financial experts help these people eliminate almost all taxes or hide them overseas.

No, I’m not interested in destroying them. I just want them to pay the taxes they normally would and don’t pay with the system we have now.

The best way to deal with this is to eliminate the current tax code and create a flat tax enshrined by an amendment in the U.S.Constitution and that percentage can’t be changed without changing the Constitutional amendment.

I agree, but I am all in favor of relieving Buffet and Michael Moore and other rich libs of their guilt-inducing wealth. ;-)

Whose money is it anyway? If the money wasn’t stolen, then nobody has the right to take it from them. That is theft. People don’t have the guts to break into someone’s house themselves, so they elect politicians who will steal for them.

I outlined corrupt/illegal actions that the super rich *routinely* use to escape paying the tax rate. That is what I meant by “fair share”, whatever the tax rate is! I am in favor of a flat tax.

Illegal? Or is it the fact that there are tax loopholes written by Congress that allow people to avoid taxes legally.

That’s a compliment coming from a true imbecile such as yourself! I didn’t say it was a single man. You have no clue what you’re talking about so go and get educated about who was behind the scenes before you mouth off again. You can wake up and realize what is going on or remain in blissful ignorance and continue to be a good sheep like they want you to be. A small group of elite bankers, financiers and super rich control the world and wish to remake it in their image. They create bubbles, wait for them to crash and then cash in. This has happened time and again. There is also a very strong atheist component to this cabal.

I say do it. Let the overgrown children get every thing they want, then face the consequences of their New World. And in 5-10 years the super rich will be super rich again, and this time they’ll have total control of the “system.” And if you don’t like it, you’ll wind up buried in a hole somewhere nobody will look. Or end up as dog chow. The Left wants anarchy, but the fools don’t realize that anarchy leads to enslavement, with the powerful at the top.

>>>Whoa calm down there Mr. Welch. So now pointing out the corrosive impact of *some* corrupt nefarious members of the super rich, like George Soros, on our society and saying that they should not be allowed to break the law is equivalent to embracing Soviet statism?

You are arguing against policies I don’t hold. See my post #46.<<<

Actually, I was writing about the writer of the article, thus the continual reference to “Mr. Farrell.” My comments are directed at him, not you. In fact, I didn’t think about you at all. You’re telling me to calm down? *quizzical look* And who is Mr. Welch? The grape juice man?

I think that we should simply take everything that everyone makes over $250k per year. If they cannot live on that, then they can go to another company that hasn’t added to the debt that my kids (and future grand kids) will be stuck with.

Read Feed Your Family on $10 billion a day.

Cheers!

The problem is your picture is too simplistic. Yeah the $4 trillion stolen from the Fed was earned honestly right? The hundreds of billions looted from the US taxpayers in the Stimulus and Bailout were also justly earned? The Wall Street leaders who pushed financial instruments like mortgage based derivatives they knew were rotten, looted companies and then walked way with hundreds of millions in compensation and not a single criminal conviction were also entitled to that? No one here suggested we strangle the rich/super rich or tax them into oblivion!

When some don't pay taxes, especially if they have hands in the treasury, they don't care about the spending.

We need a Balanced Budget Amendment.

We need to get rid of all deductions, the IRS may be removed and just charge everyone one tax rate (which ever is reasonable).

10% of 10k is 1k.
10% of 1000000 is 100000k.

Look at Chicago and the state of Illinois.

Excellent observation! Oprah Winfrey lives there. A billionaire, and the state of IL is still broke and failing. Is she not paying enough?

You held them in post #1
“I disagree with some of his opinions, but I strongly agree that the super rich need to pay more of their share. They hire the best lawyers and financial advisers who are experts in hiding their wealth, defraying taxes incurred, stashing assets in offshore banks, incorporating outside the US in tax shelters, etc. Bear Sterns gave millions to Obama!”

What taxes do you think they don't pay? Or are you totally confusing wealth with income? Corporations with individuals? If I had a billion dollars, do you think I would have a 9-5 job? Take out pre tax dollars for health care when I could buy a hospital?

Why should they take huge portions of their wealth to pay for another man's socialism? Are you upset the wealthy aren't putting more in the kitty for Soros and Obama to restructure the health care system? Are you upset they aren't helping pay for more stimulus where a trillion dollars can be flushed down the toilet?

No, your position is either completely ill defined, or you have gulped the redistribution Kool Aid. That is a fully thoughtful analysis.

(This is the part where a real adult realizes they have stepped in it and admit it. You can do it. It builds character.)

Screw you all. I have never taken a nickel from the govt. I have no regrets of taking it all in a bag and moving to Belize, fishing for bonefish, eating lobster for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and watching you all devour yourselves. Everything I own has already been taxed to the max. Screw you all. I would still support the charities I support that do their work on sound balance sheets but I refuse to have the leftist thieves steal and squander what has taken me forty years of very hard work to build.

Yea, I’ve done the math too. The money is certainly not there from the rich...I’ve always known that. I was just getting a bit frustrated thinking about the bailouts.

The money is with the middle class - and either we tax them big-time, or we make HUGE spending cuts...or we do nothing and watch the dollar crash (which I fear will be the outcome and soon).

Who do you think donates mountains of money to the politicians? They start up their own political groups to donate to politicians.
