Yes, tax the Super Rich. Tax them now. Before the other 99% rise up, trigger a new American Revolution, a meltdown and the Great Depression 2.
We know the Super Rich dont care. Not about you. Nor the American public. They cant see. Cant hear. Stay trapped in their Forbes-400 bubble. An echo chamber that isolates them. They see the public as faceless workers, customers, taxpayers. See GOP power on the ascent. Reaganomics is back. Unions on the run. Clueless masses are easily manipulated.
Even Obama is secretly working with the GOP, will never touch his Super Rich donors. Yes, the Super-Rich Delusion is that powerful, infecting all America.
Heres how one savvy insider who knows described this Super-Rich Delusion: The top 1% live privileged lives, arent worried about much. Families vacation at the best resorts. Their big concerns are finding the best Pilates teacher, best masseuse, best surgeons, best private schools. They arent concerned with the underlying deterioration of America or the world, except in the abstract, because they arent directly affected by it. Thats not to say they arent sympathetic, aware, or dont talk about the issues you bring up. They are largely concerned with protecting and enhancing their socio-economic positions, ensuring their families live well. And nothing you write about will change things.

And you’re a clueless moron. How’s that for name calling.
You’ve don’t nothing but complain when people call you on your ignorant rants.
And after you take care of all the super rich bankers, what happens then?
I'm not arguing against the idea that there is severe corruption that needs to be cleaned up. I'm not even arguing against your point that slimy people running large corporations are working with the government, making policies that will end up screwing the rest of us over. I do agree with this.
It's the basic sentiment you expressed in your first post that is flawed. You seem to make the point that the problem is with the rich, not the corrupt. That idea will never fly with me.
If you had bothered to read my clarification posts you’d know I am in favor of the flat tax.
Exactly! BINGO. It’s refreshing to see people in this thread who actually read everything I said in my replies and don’t barf out angry insults and ad hominems as they drink their 10th beer! LOL
I posted the MarketWatch article because it was the only one I found at the time talking about the super rich. As I said I disagree with many of his opinions, and as I’ve said in follow up posts I support a fat tax, don’t believe in stealing from the rich to give to the poor, am not a socialist/marxist or any of the numerous insults thrown at me by dolts who don’t even ask for clarification before rushing to judgement.
Mr. Farrell, you are a fool.
Sure, appropriate the property of the people you call the “Super Rich.” Normally, that’s called theft, but you probably think that it’s morally supportable. Too bad you don’t get it. Once you start stealing other people’s stuff, the urge to grab and run doesn’t stop with the “Super Rich.” It never does. When you run out of the “Super Rich” wealth, you’ll start after the Filthy Rich, then the Really Rich, then the Sort of Rich, and all the way down until the meanest, most aggressive son of a bitch has taken as much as he can... using words from articles like yours, Mr. Farrell. You’ve apparently learned nothing from those little scuffles in Paris and Moscow and Beijing, other than the obvious lesson that you can always inflame passions by stoking the fires of envy.
God help us.
First of all, there was no income tax until 1914. Secondly, the top marginal rate was 90% only between 1940 and 1965.
Lastly, the greatest growth in the GDP came between 1980 and the present, i.e. when marginal rates were lowered.
Do your homework.
My God, what a clueless, delusional tool you are. The evil super rich guy engineering the colapse of the housing market is no more real than Santa Clause, the Tooth Fairy, dragons or unicorns. I'm deeply embarrassed for you.
Wow you really are dumb. No some people made a false assumption based on two words ‘fare share’. If you had not acted like a wild baboon and asked what I meant I would have told you, but types like you are so sad and pathetic they need to stroke their little egos and fire off an angry missive rooted in ignorance and rudeness. You’ve demonstrated you lack basic reading comprehension skills moron so go away and let the adults talk.
An appropriate share is equivalent to whatever amount the Democrats want to redistribute. Sheesh! Read the memo already.
;p
Simple enough for ya...
The system works perfectly fine until someone thinks they are entitled to that which they did not labour for.
I am equally against the corrupt (notably our legislators), I am just sick of all the scheming and theft and destruction of our economy by the super rich like Soros. Of course I don’t think all super rich act this way and I’m sure some are fine patriots. I will qualify my main point more carefully next time, since so many Freepers will just jump at you and assume the worst instead of politely asking, “Could you clarify what you mean by that?”
LOL.
Tax them and they’ll leave. Or quit the businesses they’re in.
And they’ll quit the philanthropy biz too.
You post an article by a raving Liberal loon that you agree with. Then you throw a hissy fit when Conservatives call you on it. Did you not Google his name first to see if he was a nutcase?
The other adults on this thread are also calling you an idiot. You’ve only found one other Liberal besides you on this thread who agrees with you and Mr. Farrell, your mentor.
You only line of defense is name calling like a little boy.
You are a selfish, self serving, delusional, crackpot.
I paid more in taxes than you earned last year.
You presumably make less than $50,000 and can afford your lavish position because it costs you nothing.
I pay more in FICA, Social Security, State Taxes, Property Taxes and on and on.
I worry about revenue and profit.
I worry about how I am going to grow my companies and provide greater opportunities for my employees, partners and suppliers.
I don’t do it for strictly altruistic reasons but because it’s fun and I like to find ways to strengthen relationships.
Still, they cost me plenty of money and I would say everyone is pretty happy with our arrangements.
It doesn’t matter if we hire the best financial advisers to reduce our tax burden. We ain’t GE and can pay zero taxes.
Do you realize how much it costs to keep people like you happy so you will continue to produce a result?
I pay for rent, the lights, stock the frig, I even paid for the cleaning service.
You never have an excuse that something around here ain’t working or you don’t have supplies. I pay to keep everything working and overstock on supplies so you can be a petty thief and take some home for yourself.
I pay all kinds of advisers to help me improve my business and my employees.
Do you have any idea how much annual rewards cost me? Not much, because I believe in rewarding people for excellence and it seems fair.
Do you know what it’s like to own a company that once did millions and now, despite your best efforts and every waking moment is no longer what it once was?
Only now after sweating for 2 years is the work paying off to the point we may be about 2/3rds of what we once were and can hire half my team back at the wages they were earning.
Trust me. We called our guys back after some creative deal making and they couldn’t be happier to drop what they were doing to come back home.
We love them and they are paid some of the highest wages in the industry, because they are the best. We don’t make as much as other contractors, who have the same revenue, but our margins are better and we give that to our employees.
Out telecom and Internet companies did fine but we never gave up on returning our construction employees back to full employment.
Trust me, it cost us thousands of dollars, on an order you wouldn’t comprehend, to fix that business and our guys have the biggest smiles.
I don’t have to provide them lunch, give them a little extra when they have a financial problem and to a man, they never took the money without insisting on paying it back, even though we said it wasn’t necessary.
You are a chump, a leech and a loser whose lazy can’t do avarice is devoured by your envy.
You can never level the field for people like us because you will always be inferior, period.
I don’t owe the government anything. They take what they want and setup the rules for reducing my taxes.
I am only in compliance and BTW, I don’t claim one penny of my allowable donations to 501c’s. I don’t feel like I need an incentive to compel me to do that.
You seek to undermine us? Undercut us?
LOL
We are Lions, you are a gazelle and we never look over our shoulder.
Stoopid nOOb. How you have kept from drowning in the shower this far in your life astounds me and I’m sure your employer, if you are working, thinks you are a crackpot but doesn’t know how to get rid of you.
You’re fired!
Cut the gubmint down to size. Cut everyone’s taxes.
Whoa calm down there Mr. Welch. So now pointing out the corrosive impact of *some* corrupt nefarious members of the super rich, like George Soros, on our society and saying that they should not be allowed to break the law is equivalent to embracing Soviet statism?
You are arguing against policies I don’t hold. See my post #46.
To paraphrase Mark Twain: “The only native American criminal class is Congress.”
It was a joke, hence the LOL.
