Against the advice of his attorneys, convicted murderer Isaiah Doyle took the stand in the penalty phase of his trial in Jefferson Parish this morning and promptly told the jury he was guilty of first-degree murder, had no remorse, and wished he could kill the jury.

Lay off the Heineken Beer Bandit. You have to give him some credit for being entrepreneurial; there was no sense in having a perfectly good beer go to waste.
All he wanted to do was kill a few brain cells, and they were his own.

Im too crazy to be held responsible He didn't know what he was doing? Fine. When they strap him into the electric chair, tell him it's a ride at Disney. He won't know the difference there either.

I hear hanging death by strangulation can take up to twenty minutes Or longer if you let his tippy toes touch the floor. Eventually exhaustion will have its way.

The mutt was convicted after a fair trial. What better punishment than to take him out in the public square and ...hang him high? What a deterrent that would be!

The article also said that he showed no remorse. What I found astounding is that the jury took 2 hours to reach their verdict of the death penalty. They must have had some deliberations and were not acting totally in fear.

Before he was convicted, he said that a hispanic gang forced him to do it.
Harvey man says he was forced to kill store clerk in Marrero
Harvey man told detectives that members of the deadly Latin Kings street gang armed him with a pistol and forced him to carry out the crimes under threats of death.
Casting himself as a friendless African-American youth seeking acceptance from the Hispanics-only gang.

Did you read the replies to this particular comment? This comment was thoroughly riduculed as well as a few other ridiculous comments. It’s not only N.O. The same mentality probably exists with other cities such as L.A., Chicago, Washington, DC.

There will be an appeal. There will be endless appeals. He will spend decades on death row. This genius just admitted to the crime in front of a courtroom full of witnesses - he has less chance of appeal than the average murdering savage. Of course, his lawyers will still use every delaying tactic in the book - but I hear Angola is lovely at this time of year, with all the wildflowers blooming in the prison graveyard. I'm sure he'll enjoy his new (permanent) home.

What I found astounding is that the jury took 2 hours to reach their verdict of the death penalty. They must have had some deliberations and were not acting totally in fear. I know Jefferson Parish... the jurors were "making it look good". Returning a guilty verdict in a capital case in under an hour would just be unseemly.

From the comments accompanying the article it would seem that there's certainly no shortage of sympathetic ninnies that would love to take Doyle under their wings much like a pet. Amazing. Apparently in their view he's just another poor misunderstood rebel soul just trying to survive as best he can in a cruel uncaring world. He'll probably put two or three state psychologist’s as well as several lawyer’s children through college by being the the center of a small cottage industry for decades as appeals drag on.

Why did the lawyer not want him to testify? If he wanted to, I don’t see the issue.

Casting himself as a friendless African-American youth seeking acceptance from the Hispanics-only gang. I don't know. I find that entirely plausible. But I have a question for young Doyle. Aren't there any church groups in N'Orleans you could've joined.
I find young Christians very friendly.
