Wow, now the rebels (those freedom loving young people) have a funtioning airforce? And the first flights of the French "no fly zone" fighters attacked Libyan tanks and APC's? This could get very confusing. I wonder who is bank rolling those fun loving rebels?

The news keeps talking about civilians being attacked but every time I see one of them they’re carrying RPGs or some other sort of military weapon.

Would be interesting if the UN Enforcers were the ones who actually shot down the rebel jet.

What the story leaves out is that it was most probably the rebels that shot down the rebel MIG. They are confused too...

If we had real intelligence we’d follow the money. There is no such thing as a spontaneous revolution.
(my money’s on Russia)

There has to be “intelligence” on the ground, maybe a Seal team. Otherwise how the heck will the French pilots know who to attack?

It happened about four hours before the French arrived. So, probably ground fire, either from their own or the loyalists.

What’s kind of interesting is that one of the reasons for the claim the loyalists weren’t complying with the cease-fire was the bombing of Benghazi which, it appears, they weren’t doing.

Those aren't military weapons - they're automatic rifles and RPG's of love...

Good point about the MIGS flying during the ceasefire. I also just watched the MIG crash again and you can clearly hear people loyal to the rebels cheering as it went down. They are confused too.

BTW- Only a liberal dem with zero understanding of military ops and history would make a statement or start a campaign by declaring we would not commit ground troops. No matter what level of atrocity the Libyan forces may commit against their own people, we would never send anybody to help them on the ground. Great thinking there Odumass.

-——If we had real intelligence we’d follow the money——

We basically know nothing.

I think that early on there was a deal with the son that backfired when the old man did not go with the plan. Once the negotiations went sour, Plan b was devised and we are seeing it develop. Remember, there were reports of Brit SAS unit on the ground. Obama was not involved except late and marginally

There is far more unknown than known.

It was an SA-7 fired by Libyan Army defector-rebels. Accidental, friendly fire. Pilot was flying too low and slow, died when his chute failed to open.

I think they could tell that it was a rebel jet because it must have had a Confederate flag painted on it.

Why is this peace loving president getting US involved in WAR?

I thought these were poor unarmed rebels for democracy. If they have jets, they do not need us.

I’m betting it was “friendly fire” that took out that Libyan jet.

“Sargent Assad, you camel dung-eating idiot...That was one of ours!”

Looks more like AA machine gune fire. Such as those mounted on the back of the pickups we’ve seen so often on the news. No smoke trail up to the MIG like a missle would leave.
