Stephen King Demands to Know Why He’s Not Paying More in Taxes

Who better to weigh in on the issue of nightmarish debt spending and the blood-curdling notion that a country can tax its way to prosperity than one of the masters of the horror genre?

In Florida recently, author Stephen King, out of concern for the well-being of the middle and lower classes, expressed a willingness to financially martyr himself when he said, “As a rich person, I pay 28 percent tax… what I want to ask you is, why am I not paying 50?” The crowd applauded in appreciation at King’s willingness to throw more of his income down the money hole never to be seen again without first asking themselves, “If he really wants to help the middle and lower classes, why doesn’t he start by giving his books away for free?”

Hey Stepen, the IRS accepts donations. Shut up and pull out your check book.

No one is stopping you from paying more, Stephen. Shell out the cash if you so desire.

Question to Mr. King.

What’s stopping you from paying more?
Send in all the money you want.
There is no law against that.
If you want to give $50 Million then be my guest.
I’ll even send you a thank you card.

It’s easy to support a high tax regime, when you’re worth about 400 million dollars.

I’d like to see how many of these people would support taxing wealth.

Mr. King, the solution to your distress is easy...1. Open your checkbook. 2. Write a check, payable to the Internal Revenue Service, for whatever amount will ease your conscience. 3. Seal, stamp and mail. Repeat as often as necessary.

Maybe Rush can start a fund to hire Stephen King an accountant who can help him pay 50% of his income in taxes

Hang in there, Steve, I’m certain it can be done

Maybe H&R Block can start a new division called “rich liberal tax assistance”.

Instead of working to find you every possible deduction, they strip every possible deduction from your tax form so you get the joy of paying waaaay more .... pay until it hurts, brother, and feel the joy. Amen!

Is there anything currently preventing Mr. King from voluntarily paying more?

No?

Then he should do so post-haste!

Hey ass-clown, empty your bank account and hand it over to me and STFU if it will temper your rich guilt.

Wonder how many legal tax shelters he is involved with, if any, and if he feels so undertaxed, why is he using them?

"What’s stopping you from paying more? Send in all the money you want. There is no law against that."

Serious question for anybody in the know:

If one pays in excess of one's liability, would the IRS merely keep the money, or credit it towards your tax liability for the following year?

Steven it’s one thing to give lip service to it but there is nothing stopping you from donating 1/2 of your money each year to the USA for use by the government.I mean if youy feel that strongly about it you and your rich buds could give 70%....everyone give a round of applause to all the liberals who are willing to donate 70%.......!Get the checkbook out bud don’t delay!

Wealthy liberal elites - the kind who want all the rich to pay more in taxes - are the same people donating their used underwear to Salvation Army for tax write-offs. Trust me, these folks aren't hiring CPA's for nothing.

The real issue is they can't 'earn' more to move up the ladder - so what's left is knocking competitors off the ladder.

If Mr King wants to pay more ( and I don't believe that for a second ) he can write a check and pay more. Or he can spend less and take his taxes down to H&R Block rather than his top notch CPA... he'll pay more that way - stop taking the home office deductions?

Why is it that only the very rich ever ask this question?
Just give it away Stephen. You know you can do it.
I even have a suggestion to help you out ...

It’s a shame, really. It sounded like his next book would be interesting, but if he wants to go around insulting more than half of the population (and about 65% of the book-buying public, since most liberals are probably illiterate anyway), I think I may just pass.

Here’s the point: If someone like Stephen King (or Michael Moore, for that matter) don’t think they pay enough taxes, they can always send in more. However, for the rest of us who think we pay too much in taxes, we can’t send in less.
