All four units at the Fukushima Daini nuclear power plant have now achieved cold shutdown - where coolant water is at less than 100ºC - with full operation of cooling systems, Tepco reported. All the reactors shut down automatically during last week's earthquake and have remained safe. While unit 3's shutdown went as expected, damage to the emergency core cooling systems of units 1, 2 and 4 led to the announcement of emergency status. These three reactors were prepared for potential pressure release, but this was never required. Unit 1 announced cold shutdown at 1.24 am on 14 March and unit 2 followed at 3.52 am. Tepco has now announced that unit 4 achieved cold shutdown at 7.15 pm on 15 March. Water levels are now stable in all four reactors and offsite power is available, the company said.

So, this is a different plant than the one that’s on fire, right?
Hard to keep track.
Dai NI . The big problems , as we all know , are at Dai ICIH .
Make that ICHI .
Well some good news for a change.
The worst performance in the history of journalism. A complete disgrace.
yep Shep is spreading the fear right now!
Hang on to them. The ride may not be over yet. Best to be prepared, for anything.
I think these are the same power plants that have been exploding and spewing nuclear smoke for days. The article says units 1,2,4, have been the problems and it’s what news sources have been reporting on since the earthquake. I know it’s confusing especially w/this article that all is now O.K. when a few hours ago the circumstances seemed dire.
I know only the basics of nuclear power generation (I lived about a mile downwind from the Diablo Canyon plant for 10 years so I did some studying). I'm much better informed on the subject than any TV anchor I watched -- including the vaunted Megyn Kelly whose Cassandra-rant I had to turn off today. The absolute Worst was Bill Nye, the Liberal Science Guy on CNN, who talked know-nothing gobbledegook.
Zatoichi?
I think what we have here is a failure to communicate.
Ichi is #1, where all the fires and explosions and radiation and all that hangs out.
Ni is #2, and they got it handled.

Japan Earthquake Update (15 March 2011, 14:10 UTC)
The IAEA Incident and Emergency Centre (IEC) continues to monitor the status of the nuclear power plants in Japan that were affected by the devastating earthquake and consequent tsunami.
All units at the Fukushima Daini, Onagawa, and Tokai nuclear power plants are in a safe and stable condition (i.e. cold shutdown).

Why wouldn’t they ever leave that poor Zatoichi guy alone? Someone always had to mess with him. He was just a poor, blind masseuse who liked a little saki now and then.
So when do they blow up?
I have much more to fear from government than I do from radioactivity. No one in my family ever died from radioactivity.

This is awesome news!
Until the next one blows up again...
Damn, I guess this means all the talking heads and “experts” will have to crawl back under their rocks till they can invent another crisis.
Excuse my ignorance...is this good or bad news?
