"The WNN service is supported administratively and with technical advice by the World Nuclear Association and is based within its London Secretariat. It draws on WNA's global network of contacts in industry, academia, research institutes and intergovernmental agencies that includes key personnel in enterprises that account for virtually all of the world's uranium mining, nuclear fuel manufacture, equipment production and nuclear power generation. Does this mean the world isn't going to end and all those Potassium Iodide pills I bought won't be worth $50 apiece?

So, this is a different plant than the one that’s on fire, right?

Hard to keep track.

The worst performance in the history of journalism. A complete disgrace.

The real meltdown took place in the American media. Instead of focusing on lessons learned from the earthquake and tsunami that will take tens of thousands of lives, they went into an orgy of crisis-mongering over radiation fears that will probably kill no one.

I know only the basics of nuclear power generation (I lived about a mile downwind from the Diablo Canyon plant for 10 years so I did some studying). I'm much better informed on the subject than any TV anchor I watched -- including the vaunted Megyn Kelly whose Cassandra-rant I had to turn off today. The absolute Worst was Bill Nye, the Liberal Science Guy on CNN, who talked know-nothing gobbledegook.

Another source, International Atomic Energy Agency, confirms this.

Japan Earthquake Update (15 March 2011, 14:10 UTC)

The IAEA Incident and Emergency Centre (IEC) continues to monitor the status of the nuclear power plants in Japan that were affected by the devastating earthquake and consequent tsunami.

All units at the Fukushima Daini, Onagawa, and Tokai nuclear power plants are in a safe and stable condition (i.e. cold shutdown).

Damn, I guess this means all the talking heads and “experts” will have to crawl back under their rocks till they can invent another crisis.

Thanks for the post. The presstitutes have really been playing this story for all it’s worth, and even Drudge has been going along with it today.

I think I’ll send him a link to this story. I suspect that the enviro-freaks are playing this up in hopes of putting an end to all nuclear power development in this country.
