The New York Times’ Crocodile Tears For Private Manning
David Horowitz's NewsReal Blog ^ | Joseph Klein

The New York Times ran an editorial today entitled “the Abuse of Private Manning.” Their crocodile tears for this alleged traitor are sickening.

The Times editors complain that Pfc. Bradley Manning is being abused in prison while confined on charges that the editors minimize as simply

handing government files to WikiLeaks

What the Times editors leave out is that the charges rise to treason. They include “aiding the enemy,” wrongfully causing intelligence to be published on the Internet where it could be accessed by “the enemy,” theft of public records, and transmitting defense information. The charges stem from Manning’s alleged leaking of thousands of classified military documents relating to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to WikiLeaks as well as thousands more State Department documents.

The allegations of abuse which so upset the Times include solitary confinement, presumably for his own safety, and removal of all clothes at night, presumably to prevent Private Manning from injuring himself.

The editors complain that Manning has not even been tried, let alone convicted, on any charges. True, but again they leave out an important fact: the delay in bringing Manning to trial is because of his own attorneys, who have had his mental capacity evaluated.

Maybe next time he’ll think twice before making sarcastic comments about hanging himself with his underwear. Just sayin’.

Everyday far worse treatment is given to this nation’s honorably discharged veterans, including men and women who are responsible for extraordinary acts of heroism. Meanwhile, a traitor likely responsible for the deaths of dozens of US troops and possibly hundreds of middle eastern men, women, and children is treated with the utmost respect and dignity.

Of course, the leftist vermin like the ones in the NYT don’t give a damn about the good people. The vermin only care about their own scummy kind. They are so worthless and disgusting that I have more respect for the Taliban than for them. At least the Taliban are willing to die for their evil beliefs.

And then there’s Gere’s Gerbil Grenadiers, where “ARMAGEDDON!” is the battle cry, not the safe word.

Manning should have been tried, tied to a post and shot a long time ago!

He is a traitor and a fool!

I think "crocodile tears" is misused here. The term usually means insincere expressions of sorrow or grief (see, e.g., Clinton, B., at funeral of Brown, R.), whereas, I'm pretty sure the NY Times' editorial board has a great deal of completely sincere sympathy for any traitor against the US.

“Liberals will have him running for a seat in the house.” - whose? Barney Frank’s seat? Would he really want Barney’s seat?

Barney’s seat is probably a bit used up and gouged.

Carrying the scars of many abuses.
