Police And Firefighter Unions Demand Businesses Publicly Oppose Wisconsin Governor

Wow. Here is another reason public unions should not be allowed to collectively bargain with politicians running a local or state government. Union leadership – including those from law enforcement and firefighters – have sent letters out to local businesses demanding they publicly oppose the efforts of Wisconsin’s legislature and governor or face the consequences.

Not only are they suggesting they publicly oppose the fiscal-sanity measures in Wisconsin, they are flat out telling them they will publicly boycott businesses who do not proactively do so. From James Taranto’s opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal yesterday.

I have a question. Are these letters being sent by the same union(s) that supported Walker in the election?

Typically there are several ‘unions’ that work with various trades and industries, including police, firemen, teachers. I.e., there’s the NEA and the NFT for teachers, the latter usually concentrated in urban areas.

It’s possible one set of unions backed Walker for the election and the other(s), being a D constituency, backed his opponent. I am just wondering how it worked in WI.

Another embarrassing moment from those I call my brothers in law enforcement. Think I’ll quit telling folks I’m a retired LEO.

This just slipped from democracy into hell

No, this is what democracy looks like and is why we were established as a representative republic. This is extortion on a level that the mafia could only wish for.

This is the democrat party and their union thugs taking back what they lost in the Civil War...slavery. They are making slaves of the taxpayers to support their plantations and power in the style to which they have become accustomed. The democrat party should have been outlawed in 1865. They and the unions are now pushing again to the point of another very "uncivil" engagement. In 1860 they viewed the North as weak, cowardly and unable to fight back and now they are making the same mistake again. FUBO & FAD

I’ll bet the Union thugs will come around with placards and demand businesses display them in their shops or windows. I mean in case the cops and fire department need to know which businesses to save and which ones not to. Just saying.

This will backfire, and not just in the court of public opinion.

Businesses that receive this extortion letter, whether or not they seem to comply, will resent it bitterly. There will be consequences.

The police are irrelevant when it comes to robbery. Your only friends then are Mr. Smith and Mr. Wesson.

But Bob is insured. So, when Bob collects his check, he just leaves WI and starts somewhere else. He didn’t really like stuggling with his business in WI anyway. So, Bob sends a thank-you note to the union as he leaves.

Donut shops in Wisconsin are now in panic-mode.

FIRE THEM ALL, post for REPLACEMENTS, and move on.

I am aware that our nation was founded as a democratic republic.

And I am creep-ed out at what is going on now.

I love your comparison to the plantations of yesteryear. I have always thought the elite power mongers in the dem party have continued to treat the blacks and other minorities as 'slaves' in the sense that they have dumbed down our schools and given spirit crunching handouts to these groups to keep them down, dumb, dependent and most importantly, voting time and again for democrats in order to keep the teat flowing.

The slavery of low expectations and reward in exchange for power.

I like your broad idea...I can see it as an extension of the good ol dem slave days.

They should be handed a cease and desist order for attempted extortion.

Jesse Jackson's decades long practice of extorting big corporations is nothing compared to the unions rolling up their sleeves to threaten ALL businesses.

Just as the media never exposed Jackson's strong-arm tactics, they won't report on Wisconsin, either.

Here's where we MUST participate. Attach this thread and get it out to your emailing list. CONSIDER THIS A FREEP. THIS IS WHAT WE'RE HERE FOR, CORRECT? Does no good to complain about this to each other!

The word must go around that the ramparts must be mounted to stop this goon thugocracy from attacking our relatives and friends and fellow citizens who own or work in small businesses anywhere and everywhere in our communities. Their heads are barely above water now, anyhow, from Obama's marxist economy.

Union violence by threats, extortion, blackmail and boycotts MUST BE STOPPED before it touches every one of us....and it will!

E-MAIL NOW!

Leni

If they didn’t have anti-trust exemptions unions would be dissolved for conspiracy to fix the price of labor. Perhaps the municipalities, States and Feds should re-visit these exemptions.

So the message is “back us in this fight or you might not get Police and Fire protection”?

These people are evil.

Sounds like extortion to me. They is NO difference between these union goons and a mafioso thug in a cheap suit demanding protection money.

RICO this Filth right into prison.

Our “public servants” are threatening businesses, behaving like the criminals they are supposed to protect us from. We can’t say that we weren’t warned about the dangers of collective bargaining “rights” for public sector workers.
