ANGELES LOS ANGELES -- The chancellor of the University of California, Los Angeles said Monday he was "appalled by the thoughtless and hurtful comments" that a white student made about her Asian classmates in a video that has drawn national attention.
Alexandra Wallace posted a three-minute rant on YouTube called "Asians in the Library," in which she criticizes the school for accepting "these hordes of Asian people" who she said have no manners and invite their extended family to visit on the weekends. The UCLA political science student also faulted Asian students for disrupting her studies at the library by calling family members in the wake of the tsunami.
"I'll be in, like, deep into my studying, into my political science theories and arguments and all that stuff, getting it all down, like typing away furiously, blah, blah, blah, and then all of a sudden when I'm about to, like, reach an epiphany, overhear from somewhere, `Oh ching chong ling long ting tong, ooohh," she said.

Really
Can’t have the non dependent types going now do we
The Chinese were not "brought over" a la African slaves. They sought better opportunities in a foreign land, and almost all of them found it. The work was hard, and their treatment oftentimes degrading, but they were for the most part able to amass a large sum of money to take back to their homeland with them. It was a win-win. (Most Chinese Laborers on the West Coast returned to their homeland. They had no desire to settle in America, but rather to return home with the financial werewithal to buy a wife and live comfortably in an era where starvation was not uncommon)
Also, keep in mind that statistically less than 1% of all railroads in North america were built using Chinese labor. It is a fallacy that if not for the Chinese there would be no railroads in America. Most Railroads were built by Caucasian non-citizens recently arrived from Europe.
Absolutely! Even some liberals grasp this, but they cannot say it or risk ostracism.
Most Asians are libs. I agree that many Koreans and Chinese who live here are rude, and exhibit said behavior. Model minority my a-s.
Never understood the fetish some people have for the slanted. This young lady is dead on regarding the behavior of the peril.
Most Asiand vote Dem, and if you think they don’t despise whitey, you’ve never spent time in Hawaii, Hoale.
I didn’t say they weren’t paid, or compare them to slaves. From what I’ve read, they were subject to quite a bit of racism. Which, I believe, is a form of exploitation.
Other groups were subjected to that, also. The Irish come to mind.
Neither the railroad guys, the Indians or the Chinese for that matter talked much about it, nor did they write all that much.
What you had later on in Congress was a lot of legislation to KEEP MORE CHINESE OUT.
Congress was on side of the continent and the Chinese were on the other.
If you'd had someone trying to subject them to racial discrimination they'd probably beat them to a pulp ~
There's one sign about no dogs or Irish, but that's one sign. Appears to have been a joke. No bartender would dare try to keep 'em out.
The passage of PROHIBITION was definitely anti-Irish of course.
It is so easy to mock. Her complaint is simply that she, and other White students, are expected to, and probably do, follow the rules but Asians do not.
How difficult is it to walk outside and make/take the call (even if your reason is concern for relatives)?
I presume the washing machines she refers to are those in or near the dorms. They are there for the use of students. They are paid for (via fees and charges) by the students. Anyone who has lived in a condominium or rental apartment would understand how access to common utilities (e.g., laundry, etc.) is limited to residents. I cannot see any resident taking kindly to a fellow resident opening up such facilities to their family. I do not see why a student dorm is any different; the facilities are there for the students and not the student’s families. I imagine very few White students bring their family in to use the laundry.
I think to many here are falling for the model minority myth. Had her complaints been about “frat boys” or white students replies would have been much more gentle, some would even have supported her for pointing out the decline in social standards.
This is what “diversity” is about: lots of little stresses, tensions, and petty annoyances. Diversity is not our strength, even with so-called “model minorities.”
There are probably enough studious Whites to fill the college places if SAT scores are all you think important. There is more to a strong society than test scores. In this case, it seems that those high Asian test scores do not accompany polite behavior.
The real problem is not rude Asians, it is too-polite Whites. Whites far to often hold their tongue precisely because of the fear of hearing shaming calls of “racist.” As an attractive young woman, she may get a pass that an average White male would never receive. I hope she is not so polite as to back down and apologize.
[I am sure she will though. We must all surrender to the great God of “diversity.”]
No bigger rascists than liberals so I’m betting she is one.
However, calls after the tsunami are understandable.
