USGS Dr. Dave Applegate says the Japan earthquake ruptured a 180 mile long by 50 mile wide section of the Earth's crust.
Scientists from the United States Geological Service answered questions from the public this afternoon, with some startling revelations made.
* The first tsunami wave in Samoa was reportedly one foot tall, but the seventh wave was much larger, indicating coastal areas shoudl remain on tsunami advisory well after the first wave hits, even if that wave appears small.
* 100+ aftershocks have rated 5.0 magnitude or more in Japan since the initial shake.
* Earth's axis has reportedly shifted ten inches as a result of the quake, and Japan's coast is said to have permanently shifted 2.4 metres.
* The quake was 900 times stronger than the quake that hammered San Francisco in 1989.
* Aftershocks from the Peru earthquake of almost a year ago are still felt to this day.
* Honshu earthquake occurred on ocean floor of the Pacific plate, bumping 250 miles of coastline.
* Shaking was felt as far away as China.
* The Honshu quake was not as large as the 1964 Alaska earthquake, but was comparable to the recent Chile earthquake.
* Tsunami waves that hit California earlier today washed three onlookers out to sea. Two have been recovered.
* St Louis, Missouri media outlets report that city has moved an inch as a result of the quake.
* Waves from the ensuing tsunami reached 32 feet high.
Yeah, but 2.4 meters in what direction? I’d like to save gas if possible next time I’m headed that way.

Ain't that the truth. When I was a newspaper editor, I never hired a single journalism major.
I knew a girl who majored in physics, minored in math, and went to grad school in meteorology, doing atmospheric modeling, chaos theory, etc. She decided she didn't want to do research, and then decided she wanted something even more fast-paced than science writing, so she applied to be a newspaper editor. They were skeptical about hiring someone with her background, and she had to convince them to give her a shot as a copy editor.
Within only a few years, she was editor in chief of one of their chain's papers.

Simple answer: Yes.
More detailed explanation: They felt the 7.2 precursor two days before the main shock, they have been educated to know that any earthquake can be a fore shock of a larger quake, to know that they live in an area prone to tsunamis, with a network of signs showing evacuation routes. They felt the 8.9 main shock, and had well over an hour before the first tsunami waves arrived to evacuate to higher ground. Decades of earthquake education, strict building codes, tsunami education, and instant earthquake alerts all will combine to result in tens of thousands of saved lives.
But you were the one who was trumpeting some astrologer I can't even remember - did he identify any time frames for supposed disasters? Yes. Did they fail to be accurate? Yes. Did he fail to identify any specific location? Yes. Did his failed prediction save a single life in this disaster? No.
I hope by now that you've abandoned whatever support you had for this quack astrologer with his inaccurate general predictions.

Not sure but I do recall reading something years ago that white is an extremely popular vehicle colour in Japan. In fact if you go way back to the old days of national colours in racing cars white was the colour for Japan. Green for Britain, Blue for France, Red for Italy and I think silver for Germany.
Well since it is the axis and not the whole earth that means while it basically increased it’s title towards the sun, that means the other end got tilted further away. Therefore it all balances out. Or at least that would make sense to me. But I got woken early today so my mind is mush.
Japan also drives on the opposite side of the road to the US and thus have steering wheels on the right side of vehicles.

The Japan earthquake was an 8.9. The Boxing Day (2004) earthquake near Indonesia was 9.1.
I saw another one of these Super Moon types who predicted a “BOOM!” on March 11 one week ahead of time.
