Tokyo just got smacked hard. Still feeling tremors. Refrigerator broken, glass everywhere. I'm safe.
Other Japan FReepers check in!!
Nagoya, Kariya, /the home of the Toyoda family.... Due south of Tokyo, north of Osaka,,,,
It has been upgraded to a WARNING. Sirens sounding now.
Hawaii time, that’s near 8 a.m.
Thank you for the update Islander 7.
I’m glad you two are safe. Prayers up for all.
One of my co-workers is a Navy guy...stationed in Guam and scheduled to redeply from here in Iraq very soon. He’s worried about his friends in Guam.
I’m right on Hilo Bay; the sirens have sounded and I’ve got a bag packed and ready to go.......
Be safe.
Wow. An 8.9 precursor Quake. Sitting on top of the world’s biggest subduction zone has its bad points. Any word on tsunami hitting China or Korea?
Times tsunami expected to hit various areas:

I thought so.....evacuation bag packed? Ready to depart? Effect on your son’s area?
God bless and God speed.
You’re a Boy Scout....
Stay safe and sound. God bless and protect you and all who’re so worried right now.
When we were looking at purchasing, I purposely stayed away from Ewa and Kapolei, not thinking tsunami so much as flash flooding. I remember a really bad election day (forget what year)where H1 was flooded on the viaduct to the top of the concrete guardrail on the mauka side. Kapolei and Ewa were virtually impassible.
My son won’t be affected at all....he’s up around 1100 feet. But he won’t be driving down to the docks in the morning so he’ll lose a day of work.

Here is a tsunami inundation model for Guam. Interestingly they used (I think!) a 8.9 magnitude off the coast of Japan. (With a ground motion of 15 meters along the fault line).
Prayers to you stay safe and get to high ground
Remember the British mantra from WWII: “Keep Calm and Carry On!”
