WASHINGTON, D.C., March 9, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a 44-56 vote, the U.S. Senate has voted against a budget bill crafted by House Republicans that would have eliminated federal funding of Planned Parenthood.
The Democrat-led Senate also failed to pass its own budget bill, which contained much fewer spending cuts and maintained the abortion giant’s funding.
The vote marks the first stage of what promises to be a drawn-out battle between two opposite visions for the 2011 fiscal year, as well as between pro-life and pro-abortion forces fiercely gunning for or against the amendment de-funding Planned Parenthood.
President Obama has promised to veto the House version as it stands.
Developing ...
I expected this. Lets see what they do when NPR comes up.
No big deal. Just make sure that there isn’t any money in the general budget.
Democrats and Rino’s “heart” dead babies. ugggh.
Boy, those dems and rinos sure seem to HATE minorities...
“Sanger espoused the thinking of eugenicists — similar to Darwin’s “survival of the fittest” — but related the concept to human society, saying the genetic makeup of the poor, and minorities, for example, was inferior. Pivot of Civilization, by Margaret Sanger, 1922, p. 80”

Yep that big tent of death called the democrat party just doesn’t have any room at all for moderate voices supporting the right to LIFE.
I’m guessing Brown or Lugar.
True, but what Reid has being doing is to take a House bill that he doesn’t want to take up in the Senate, gut the bill of all text, then add the text he wants to add for a revenue bill. That’s the bill that gets voted on in the Senate.
It ought to be illegal, but . . .
Understandable and no surprise. The Republicans just need to stand strong for as long as possible, even unto a complete shut-down of government.
All support the lefts eugenics program - getting rid of the "undesirables."
Technically it would work. The Dims just killed the government funding bill.
Until they pass the bill, they can’t extend any funding whatsoever.
They can only defund what is already funded. Since this is for funding the government for two week, DON’T FUND IT. A CRA should fund only what is essential, nothing more. Cutting is nothing more than a comparison to the past.
Steele is cool. Dr, has race cars, shoots, ruggedly handsome. Needs name recognition. Please PLEASE get Debbie out of my neighborhood. LOL
We need to close our primaries in Michigan and not let the press pick our candidates.
Which Republicans voted on the wrong side?
Baby killers!
I think Planned Parenthood, heck the Democrats as well, should be investigated under the RICO Act.
Well, those babies aren’t going to protect themSELVES; we’ll have to defund the senate.

Aha... Methinks there is a deeper game running here. Up until now, Reid was saying that there would have to be compromise to get the Senate to pass anything, and that he was sure the 'Republican proposal' would fail to pass. Now the most conservative Senators took what might have been a slam-dunk win and made sure it would fail. I have trouble thinking that they did this out of love for Reid or pigheadedness. Is the pressure for even deeper cuts building? Is the calculus that a shutdown will not be an embarrassment to the Pubbies this time? Are the Senate Dems being herded into stampeding like Cheeseheads?
Argh! There is either some brilliance about to reveal itself as the Dems implode, or we really are the Stupid Party. Hope rises yet again in this tired old heart.
The bill is a sham anyhow.
More political games, that’s all this is. Everyone protecting their own political fiefdoms, but no one really protecting the babies.
