In Wisconsin and Washington, broke ain't broke
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 3/8/11 | Debra J. Saunders

"America is not broke," filmmaker Michael Moore told a group protesting against Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's attempts to curb public employee union collective bargaining in Madison over the weekend.

"Neither is Wisconsin."

Forget Wisconsin's projected two-year $3.6 billion budget shortfall. Forget this year's $1.65 trillion in federal deficit spending. Any claim that Wisconsin - or Washington - is broke, Moore claimed, is "a Big Lie."

"We reject anyone who tells us America is broke and broken," he explained.

When President George W. Bush was in the White House, Democrats railed against deficit spending. Now they don't even seem to notice red ink.

The new message: A government can't really be broke because politicians have the power to raise taxes.

In Moore's America, as long as lawmakers preside over spending increases, taxpayers have an obligation to keep ponying up, whether they like it or not.

It doesn't matter if voters send signals to stop the spending spree by electing more Republicans to the House, as well as governors like Walker. Public employee unions have a "right" to engage in collective bargaining for benefits - even if federal workers don't have that power - but there is no right for voters to push for an end to the growth in spending.

That "big lie" - that America isn't broke -- is covered with rationale that goes something like this:

There is vast amounts of personal wealth in this country. If it were taxed, our problems will go away.

April 8, 2010: "The nation’s fiscal path is “unsustainable,” and the problem “cannot be solved through minor tinkering,” the head of the Congressional Budget Office said Thursday morning.

Doug Elmendorf, best known for arbitrating the costs of various health care proposals, added his voice to a growing chorus of economic experts who predict dire consequences if political leaders don’t scale back spending, increase taxes or both — and soon."

One fat, wasted screwing by his parents, doesn't know the definition of BROKE.
El Lard O (too many pancakes) said rich people don't own their money. He said it belongs to all of us. If I ever see the fat SOB I will take his money, keep some and give some to people near by.

"We reject anyone who tells us America is broke and broken"

Moore is telling us the new Dem campaign rhetoric.

Not only that, but he thinks public sector unions are vital conduit to redistribute income across the spectrum.

Michael Moore hyper-hypocrite, has used the corporate structure, distribution system and all the things he rails against to become a very wealthy man... he is in show business! (that’s what they DO, tell stories, play parts they’re not)! Michael’s likes to play “champion of the downtrodden”, he cares for us “little people”... all the while doing the very big business he claims to oppose!

He is an EFFIN PHONEY! As are most of the fabulously wealthy Hollywood “left”! They are HUGE capitalists (they just don’t play one on TV)! His ego, only challenged in size by his girth, could NOT stay out of the spotlight opportunity, this union tantrum in Wisconsin offered. Mikey and much of multi-billion $$$ corporate entertainers, remind me of my history classes… In pre-revolution France and Russia, the nobility would sometimes dress and pretend to be peasants, and express “care” for them… all of which was just the ultimate expression of disdain!

His speech basically summarizes what I expect to be the Democrat Party Platform in 2012. We can keep all of your programs and entitlements flowing just as before, if ONLY you let us tax those Eeeeeevil Rich. They are already gearing up a very big statistically based propaganda campaign to sell this.

Well, he's right .... by his lights, we aren't broke until we run out of other people's money. At least that's the way it works for socialists according to Margaret Thatcher.

We should treat such socialist stands the same way we should be treating piracy - the Russian way.

Redistribution is a euphemism for theft

America has been robbed, pure and simple.

The only question is will the thieves be punished or merely not be reelected.

Liberals are mainly the ones who sees citizens as a nearly infinitely taxable resource to be used up to fund their Utopian fantasies & luxuries.

And of course the usual saying goes that liberals are VERY GENEROUS with other people money will always ring true.
