Breakfast with the BATFE; Mexican journalist asks Obama to 'veto' 2nd Amendment
St Louis Gun Rights Examiner ^ | 4 March, 2011 | Kurt Hofmann

Posted on 03/05/2011 4:13:54 AM PST by marktwain

If top officials in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE)--and, for that matter, in the Department of Justice (and Department of State?)--had thought that media (and congressional) scrutiny of the growing "Project Gunwalker" scandal would go no further than the CBS Evening News segment of Feb. 23, then last night's follow-up must have come as a nasty shock. So, too, must be new articles in the Los Angeles Times, and from the Center for Public Integrity.

Last night's CBS story featured courageous whistleblowing Agent John Dodson, who laid out in stark detail just how callously BATFE leadership "walked" guns into Mexico:

Dodson feels that ATF was partly to blame for the escalating violence in Mexico and on the border. "I even asked them if they could see the correlation between the two," he said. "The more our guys buy, the more violence we're having down there."

Senior agents including Dodson told CBS News they confronted their supervisors over and over.

Their answer, according to Dodson, was, "If you're going to make an omelette, you've got to break some eggs."

That's right: to BATFE leadership, the nameless, faceless (and countless) dead in Mexico--and Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry (who was armed with beanbags), and quite possibly Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Jaime Zapata--were "eggs" that the BATFE had to "break."

In fact, as objections from field agents mounted, a supervisor sent out an email telling them that, "If you don't think this is fun you're in the wrong line of work." It should, evidently, be fun to "break some eggs."

It is beginning to look as if, rather than a tasty breakfast, the BATFE's "omelette" will be served as just desserts.

The Mexican Constitution says that the people have the right to have guns ... subject to the government deciding if they should or not... effectively rendering the guarantee worthless.

Regulating alcohol, tobacco and firearms are not enumerated powers granted to Congress in Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution. Therefore the mere existence of the BATFE is Unconstitutional and must be abolished!

It is a Mexico problem. That is why nobody wants to live there. Duh!

Remember that the Waco incident. It was budget time and BATFE was looking to score a big table of guns to stand behind for the MSM to take pictures of.

Yes, the majority of Americans are just too stupid to see the big picture.

Rush covered this yesterday. He read most of what the whistle blower reported.

He also emphasized , the left has tried to paint the gun violence on the border as due to American guns and our 2nd amendment, when this ATF gun walking policy is the real issue. (Paraphrase)

It is kind of funny that a mexican journalist who will probably have his head sawed off by a cartel hit for a bad article or whatnot is against firearms in the US.

This is not too far fetched for the attitudes of people in this country either -- don't like something?, do away with it.

As to the subject at hand, is there any govt agency more hated than the BATF and E? If there is one (maybe the IRS?), I'm unaware.

This agency needs to have its wings SERIOUSLY clipped. The only way to do this is through DE-FUNDING. SERIOUSLY.

"Break some eggs?..."

Nothing wrong with some eggs getting broken, unless you happen to be one of the eggs!

A side story — good to see MSM (CBS) doing their job and actually investigating facts to a story.

Some of those weapons were Barret .50s. Those eggs could be pretty far apart.

He did it with DOMA, he can do it with guns.

I thought you knew Obama is the new Supreme Court.

Well he thinks he is and so far no one is bucking him.

Until we send in an army and change the government of Mexico (again), this is Mexico’s problem. After Zachary Taylor defeated the Mexicans, we should never have given Mexico back. It would have been a territory and then, eventually, states; and all these problems we have would have gone away.

Oh, my word, EVERYBODY knows the tricks ATF does to boost their budget ~ they do this every time ~ no doubt they were doing it before WACO.

They only imagine OTHERS are IGNANT.

So, how long have you worked there?

Seems to me this is nothing short of Treason.

“The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort. This offence is punished with death. By the same article of the Constitution, no person shall be convicted of treason, unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.”

Giving guns to criminals or military troops on the other side of our border is treason. Every person that had anything to do with this should be put on trial and shot by firing squad if found guilty. And no matter what the ATF, BATF, BATFE or whatever they call themselves this week must be utterly destroyed, and the sooner the better.
