Washington Defying his reputation as a 1950s square, the new, more casual Mitt Romney is popping up around the country as he readies a second run for president. He's going tieless on network TV, strolling NASCAR pits in Daytona and sporting skinny Gap jeans bought for him by his wife.
His latest campaign book, just out in paperback, opens with a regular-guy scene: wealthy Mitt in a Wal-Mart checkout line, buying gifts for his grandsons and comparing the surroundings to Target, another discount store he says he's familiar with.

Romney... Go home, stay there. We don’t want you.
When I see him, I always want to ask, if it comes with white-walls
I may vomit. Romney in Wal Mart buying a new set of hairnets.
Mitt Romney 2012. Nooooooo!
Oh, Gawd-—sounds like the “New Nixon” crap from the ‘60’s.
Who needs this fake? He could end up as destructive as Obozo. Romney is all for himself, as far as I can see.
I would suggest he is a “REAL” RINO poser....:o)
Fake conservative...but I knew what ya meant.
Stay safe !
I think 37 to 40 percent of this nation is solidly conservative but that’s it.
If we had used 2010 to run Tea Party candidates we might have driven the Repukes to really challenge the Demoviks for liberal supremacy in 2012 by running a Romney or Christie or other crypto Dem.
Then, Palin as the Tea Party candidate would have had a VERY REAL chance to win even in blue states as voters went three different ways. Because when 40 percent can win it can even win Cali and NY and other Demovik bastions.
Governing the nation as a Tea Party president might have been difficult for Palin if she did win but at least the chance to build the Tea Party into to FIRST party would have been there...
As it is, we are looking at a Repuke candidate in 2012 like Romney or Christie and NOTHING really gained from 2010 but some seats in the House.
We didn’t go all the way. Even I was opposed to a third party for all the usual reasons. I was wrong about that. We didn’t go all the way. And you know what they say—
No guts, no glory.
If you think about it, the general election in Nov 2012 is likely to be nothing more than a super Demovik primary.
It's John Edwards for me, perhaps because they seem to share the same hair stylist.
No one has announced yet. It is like a Quaker church service. Eventually, someone won’t be able to take it anymore, and will shout out, “Pick Me, America!”
AND I don’t want Romney, real real badly!
That’s a valid point. :)
Thank you for the post, in particular, the stats on his judicial picks.
Mitt Romney is a Rockefeller Republican, which means he must be very satisfied with Obama’s transformation into a global society.
Any surprise why Kissinger and his protege Bush 41 support him?
This race is almost funny. It’s like the high school boys having one of those rowdy parties, acting goofy, and then the pretty girl walks in the door. Sarah has them bamboozled. They don’t know how to act.

You can’t unring a bell, you can’t put earrings on a hog, and Mitt Romney will never escape his RINO stench.
Yeah -- that photo makes him look like one of the TrojanEnz ad guys in the back pages of Ms. magazine.
I will take Sarah or Michelle Bachmann over any of the boys. It will be politics as usual with the good ole boys.
Traditionally financial matters run smoother when the little woman handles the finances. There are exceptions of course, but most of the families that I have known over a long lifetime, the wife holds the purse strings. That’s why they call them the “purse” strings.
